NHS job advert has closed before deadline date! Is there anything I can do?

Ive seen a job that I wanted to apply for on the NHS jobs website last weekend. The deadline wasnt until next week, however, when I went back onto the site to continue my application it says that this post is now closed! Its barely been up a week! Can they do this? If I had known, I would have applied sooner but was busy so left it till later.

Im really gutted as I really wanted the job or at least have a crack at applying even!

Can I email HR and aak them to accept my application??!

If there’s someone internal lined up the post would not normally be put out to external applicants

I have seen - and questioned - ads on my local council website which are listed as "for internal applicants only". It makes no sense to put them on the public website when they could go on the intranet for to apply. I can't remember the reason they gave me for it but I recall it was utter nonsense.

Yes they can as it says when they reach enough applicants which is usually 50, they can close the application process down. It normally tells you in small print right at the bottom of the page.

I used to do recruitment and would receive up to 500 cvs a week - even if we didn't have any jobs advertised. Granted this was sometimes the same people sending their cv every fucking day.
They probably just got loads of applications, if you're not fast your last.

Last time I put an advert on NHS jobs we got over 200 applicants, I would have closed at 50 if I had put that in the advert. They get loads of applications as the application website is easy to use, especially when you have applied for a similar job.

They don’t always have someone lined up. Some organisations will have policies that all jobs will have to advertised internally before they go external. Internal staff need to be able to complete applications at home in private especially if they are unhappy in their current role and hoping to move. It’s not necessarily something you’d want your coworkers to know about.
