Easter egg hunt - how early is too early?

.....assuming you want to maintain cordial relationships with neighbours obviously! Grin

DC were up at 5.30am, staring out of the window forlornly at inaccessible chocolate. I am dithering over the 'right' time to take pity on them. Is 8.30 acceptable? 9am? They will not be stealthy egg hunters (unfortunately). They are 7 and 8yo, for reference.

Thanks all!

Plastic eggs are great, I’ve got yellow chick ones that have been reused for that last 5-6 years.

We hide the clues in them.

My dd is 4 and I’ve never done an Easter egg hunt with her 🤦🏻‍♀️ She is one egg that I will let her have some of after lunch.
I’m such a mean mom

I was going to say i’m actually pretty gobsmacked that people do the whole “christmas morning” type thing where they hide eggs ready to pretend “the easter bunny has been” overnight.

So i was going to say february is too early for an easter egg hunt :)

I’ve never even bought eggs. They usually end up with two or three by the time grandparents have bought one, they’ve won one in a tombola, got a prize at school etc.

I was woken up before 7.30 by my neighbours kids loudly announcing each find. Suddenly not finding them so cute 😂😫

I can't imagine why they'd want the full day of trying to maintain some level of control over sugar consumption though - I always thought it was an afternoon activity!

My 20 yr old dd .. lol

7yo DS wanting to do the hunt at 2am, 5am, 6.30am and finally let him out at 8am. Not sure he even believes in the Easter Bunny anymore but has been delirious with excitement! Confused

Shopperami · 22/04/2019 07:54

What type of egg hunt did you do ?

ContessaIsOnADietDammit · 22/04/2019 08:54

I alternated between flinging foil-wrapped chocolate at the garden and carefully filling plastic eggs with tiny chocolate ones, shopper!

For my nieces, we didn't do the Easter bunny, but we played a game where they were the bunny for each other. One child was blindfolded, and the other hid eggs for the first child to find, using a little bell to guide them towards each egg. They loved this! Also my 39yo DH loves to hunt for eggs. For this, he's blindfolded, so everyone has a good laugh. (Misses the point of thread: these were afternoon activities!)
