Omg! I've seen it all now - my neighbour is vacuuming his patio....

& he's doing a really conscientious job of it too. I came to the window to see what the high-pitched noise is that's been going on for ages Hmm only to see the ndn paying particular attention to vacuum his patio just so... Bloody hell how long does it take? It's really noisy!

Maybe his kids were having a water fight and threw the glasses. Smile

Bluntness100 · 20/04/2019 21:24

Hoover our patio and fake grass weekly. It's ds2's job. Can't understand what all the MN shock is all about

🤣🤣🤣🤣

MoanaofMotunui · 20/04/2019 21:29

Oh dear, my almost 2 year old little boy was doing this yesterday 🤦‍♀️😂

Hecateh · 20/04/2019 21:31

It's possible he broke a glass out there and is making sure it is safe

Orangedaisy · 20/04/2019 21:36

We hoover ours too. And DP mops it. We’ve got modern in and out tiles so the outside ones look just like our kitchen floor so looks daft if they’re not clean too. Very new patio though so anal attention to detail will probably —hopefully— wear out

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 20/04/2019 21:40

I once had neighbours who did it.

Quite sad, really.

beanaseireann · 20/04/2019 21:48

I cut my box hedging with a scissors.Smile

RippleEffects · 20/04/2019 21:49

We vaccum the door threshold tray thing to outside and the deck. The grooves get dusty and sweeping only gets so much up. After vaccuming I mop it too. I like the boards to look clean like new. Its not a weekly thing though, it's when we through open the doors on a hot day at this time of year and want everything to be nice for summer.

eggsandwich · 20/04/2019 21:50

I hoover my decking as our tree sheds its pine needles over the winter and sweeping the deck doesn’t work as the needles get stuck in between the planks of wood, i use my henry for this its tough as old boots.

MissClareRemembers · 20/04/2019 21:51

I hoover the decking and the fake grass. It’s unbelievably satisfying and if I drag it out as long as I can. Happy times.

ticketsonsalenow · 20/04/2019 21:59

The hand-held vacuum for the dandelions is genius.

By the way, an old bread knife is pretty good at lawn edging.

FlamingoFlamenco · 20/04/2019 22:20

Err, my partner has a hoover specifically for the garage, though we do use it indoors if doing any DIY jobs too!

sackrifice · 20/04/2019 22:21

Sackrifice - genius!

I know, right?

IndianaMoleWoman · 20/04/2019 22:34

We used to live next-door-but-one to someone who hoovered his drive at 8pm every night in the summer. I remember one year the Bake Off starting in August and sitting down to watch it (I’d been looking forwards to it for about a month - I am sad) and just as the opening tune finished the hoover started up. I had to run around shutting all the windows on the front of the house.
I drove past the house a few weeks ago and the people we sold it to don’t even mow the front lawn. He must hate them! I smiled at the thought of him out there every night with his bloody hoover, seething at the state of our old garden.

Sunonthepatio · 20/04/2019 22:39

The absolutely quickest way to edge the lawn is with a sharp spade. I did about 10 metres in ten minutes yesterday.

Dothehappydance · 20/04/2019 22:50

I have a garden vac, it is great, but very heavy. Henry would probably do a better job.

losingfaith · 20/04/2019 22:53

@GreenDragone are you in central London? my husband did this earlier in the day too...

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 21/04/2019 00:09

I hate all the little bits accumulating on my patio - sweeping doesn't adequately get rid of them. Maybe I ought to invest in a garden hoover!

Stroller15 · 21/04/2019 00:13

This sounds amazing. I am dragging the old Henry out first thing tomorrow!

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 21/04/2019 07:34

I got the bread knife, other students claimed other kitchen implements. No lawn mower and a year's worth of growth. Fortunately it was a small area which wasn't well looked after before anyway. I would like to say that it was an old bread knife and only used for edging, but I won't!

BarbaraofSevillle · 21/04/2019 08:10

My neighbour mops her path at least once a week and has a doormat at the gate.

The one thing that puts me off artificial grass is that it needs vacuuming, as well as that it would probably cost thousands to do our massive garden. I think I'll stick to real grass and a lawnmower.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/04/2019 08:18

I’ve done this, it looks really good afterwards.

In fact now I want a second vacuum to do it here so I don’t damage the Miele cat and dog.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 21/04/2019 08:24

We have one of those big garden blower/sucker things that also mulches as it sucks. Useful as our garden is a dead leaf trap.
I have also never hoisted it up on my shoulder and pretended it was a bazouka oh no not me. Never.

99calmbeforethestorm · 21/04/2019 08:29

Today I’m going to sweep my yard and I am going to power wash it later. Maybe I just hoover it instead!

youarenotkiddingme · 21/04/2019 08:37

Yesterday I witnessed an older couple in the garden. He was doing something g one side and she was power washing the patio.

Then he decided to go and show her how to do it Hmm I hung around waiting for her to power wash him.

I was then annoyed at her because she didn't Grin
