Are nets considered old fashioned now. I need replacements, but dont know wether to get blinds now. Are there any other window covering options?
TIA

I don't care if they're old fashioned, I have big swoopy ones and they're brill Grin

No no no - hate nets. Why would you want to watch the world through a fog and not have light come into your rooms?

Fairylea · 20/04/2019 20:03

We have self adhesive rabbit goo (brand name) privacy film - we have to as people can see straight into our living room otherwise! We got ours from amazon and it’s a modern alternative to net curtains. It was a bit fiddly to apply but it’s only static cling so you can do it as many times as you want.

only in fashion if youre over 65 or in a 90s timewarp!

DantesInferno · 20/04/2019 20:13

Who cares about fashion? Really? Who worries that their home is not the height of fashion, is your house still grey? Glitter walls?

Ffs, if you want nets, get nets, if you want something else, get something else

Fairylea · 20/04/2019 20:14

The thing is, they ARE old fashioned but if you have a house where you need something like that (like we do) then that overrides what’s in or not...!

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 20/04/2019 20:15

Privacy film is bloody brilliant. It seems to cut out less light than nets as well. And you can wipe it down - no faffing about takings nets down and washing them.

Vitalogy · 20/04/2019 20:16

Why would you want to watch the world through a fog and not have light come into your rooms? Privacy.

Voiles are fine. Quite elegant imo.

I like a net personally, mine are very modern in design & sit flat to the glass

AuntieDolly · 20/04/2019 20:20

I've just replaced my nets with these blinds

Hate them but we had to get them when returning to work and house more and more empty. Love privacy film but wanted to be able to look out.

DontCallMeShitley · 21/04/2019 00:10

I gave in and got some because I can't walk through my bedroom without the neighbours opposite being able to see me, or the little bastard schoolboys shouting at the windows if they see me in the house.

Downstairs has blinds which are always down and usually closed for the same reason. Blinds don't fit with curtains and the windows are so crap that I can't use blackout blinds so have to use curtains which means nets for privacy.

I like the brightness of bare windows but not the nosy buggers outside.

bert3400 · 21/04/2019 08:48

Net curtains and verticle blinds should be out lawed . 😠

Shutuptodd · 21/04/2019 08:55

I only have nets because my living room window is next to a green all the kids play on. Plus my stupid cats break blinds.

AuntieDolly · 21/04/2019 09:03

Redzebra: I got then online from blinds2go. They were around £300, but it is a big box bay window 🙂

HappydaysArehere · 21/04/2019 09:10

Can’t understand why you would want to reduce your visibility with blinds. Think they make a house look like a doctors surgery. I disposed of net curtains awhile ago as they are not really necessary for us as you can only really see in when the light is on. In which case we could pull the curtains. However, if people looking in is a problem then net curtains are still a good solution as there are so many lovely ones and they do give a finished, homely look to a room. Forget fashion, that changes anyway. Get what you like.

auntiedolly thanks
wow £300, but they look lovely, might wait to see when they have a sale on Grin
