Is it worth asking for a PayPal refund?

I bought a sports bra online, a month ago & which I've worn only 3-5 times & washed on a gentle machine cycle (15mins) after each wear. It's come out with one of the wire hooks on the fastening broken.

I have 2 other of these bras & washed them the same way - both are still going strong 1-2 years later.

I've contacted the seller & asked if I can return it for an exchange. They have sold out in my size & asked me to send it back to them -saying that they will forward it to the manufacturer for investigation. So refund or exchange.

I'm a bit pissed off, as I think an expensive sports bra should last more than a month.

Is it worth pursuing a refund via PayPal?

The seller is being perfectly reasonable Confused

Wait are you saying the seller is offering a refund or an exchange?
If so why bother with PayPal?

I very much doubt it's machine washable. As most under wire bras arent.

HiItsClemFandango · 20/04/2019 09:41

If the seller has offered a refund then why do you need to contact PayPal?

Send it back and accept the refund.

Sorry, that didn't read clearly - no refund or exchange - they have simply said I have to return it (at my own cost) & they will forward it to the manufacturers .

That’s fairly standard - if the manufacturers find it to be sub-standard, then you’ll get a refund.

Bras are - quite often - hand wash only.

Silverstreaks · 20/04/2019 10:04

You should get your costs back when the manufacturer reimburses your seller.

lljkk · 20/04/2019 10:20

Try paypal & let us know what happens, OP?
Which bra was it, by the way? How much did it cost from this seller?

RosamundDarnley · 20/04/2019 10:36

Your contract is with the seller, not the manufacturer. This is to scare you off so you don't pursue it.

So refund or exchange

Have they offered you this? If so, accept a refund.

washed on a gentle machine cycle

This is the flaw. Most underwired bras say on the label not to machine wash.

If the seller has offered a refund on return, take it. If it goes back to the manufacturer and the label says don't machine wash, then you don't have a leg to stand on.

RestingBitchFaced · 20/04/2019 12:05

Yes go through Paypal, you will get it back eventually, though may take a while. I did this not long ago for something I bought

AppleBru · 20/04/2019 12:22

I feel like you’ve perhaps had a slight miscommunication with the seller? Perhaps ask them what will happen when you’ve sent it, can you get and exchange or refund?

If they decline, then Paypal it is, I guess

MoreProseccoNow · 20/04/2019 12:27

Thanks for the responses; just to clarify - I requested an exchange or refund & they have responded by offering neither & asking that I send it off to them (at my own expense) - they will then pass to the manufacturer.

I do feel a bit fobbed off; I think an expensive sports bra (Freya epic active) should last more than 3/4 uses weeks.

These are hand-wash only, OP - you might not get anywhere if you have admitted you put it through the machine, even though that's what most of us do.

I have one of those. I’ve had it for a few years now, they do say on the label hand wash only though!

If you’ve told the seller you’ve washed in a machine I’m not sure you’ll get anywhere.

lljkk · 20/04/2019 14:23

I can't find info about a bra called Freya epic active. I can find care instructions for the "Freya Active" & they all say hand wash (sorry).

The label is so faded on my running bra I've no idea what brand it is. I do mostly just rinse it in the shower, though. It's lasted for yrs now.
