Should be both right ? Except for every holiday I find myself doing everything
I’m sick of it
I even clean the house so it’s ready for when we return

I hate holidays it’s not a break for me

DONT GO SELF CATERING. EVER.

I pack for me and my children.
i arrange for the pets to be looked after.
i pay for it.
dh packs for himself. badly. the only time i have interfered is when we were going to a pricey pricey hotel in the lakes and he walked out to the car with a carrier bag. dick. he was sent back in the house to put his stuff in an actual bag. i have never bought holiday clothes or packed for him as he is an adult.
dh books the car park at the airport and drives.
we both clean and tidy the house before we go.

Here is luxury.

We know we are very spoiled, as we put the sheets in the washing machine when we go away. 'Treasure' will wash and iron make up the bed again, clear out the fridge and leave fresh milk, bread and cream ready for our return.

One if the few consolations of being old and family all grown up xx

I pack and try and leave house tidy. DH arranges holiday/books accomodation/insurance/passports etc. He gets biggest job I think.

RandomUsernameHere · 18/04/2019 19:04

I do all the preparation and organisation/admin, DH only packs for himself (I only work part time and a fraction of the hours that he does though). We usually go all inclusive or if not we eat out a lot, so I get a proper break when we get there Smile

Arrange for cleaner to blitz house including strip and make beds for when we get back. Worth every single penny as can waltz out the house without thinking anything about cleaning.

I just can’t cope with spending days packing and organising and then cleaning and making sure uniforms etc all ready as we get back late Monday

Me - for the children and myself. House is currently my job anyway. H looks after himself. If we are driving he does the car as he is the only driver. Although I find postcodes and review route etc I have a better sense of navigation.

Oh god there’s two of them I thought this was just my DH.

Also to the PP who thinks sitting at a laptop booking a holiday and then getting passports out of a draw is tougher than packing for a family and cleaning a house... are you on glue?

nowheree · 18/04/2019 19:10

I don’t actually think dh is even aware of half the stuff that needs to be done
If I was brave I’d leave him to it but then important things could be forgotten. I just would like a holiday for me

If it’s just a weekend then it shouldn’t be much anyway. I got ds1 to write the list as I shouted and cooked lunch. Then sent the children up and down the stairs to collect. Then I arranged and double checked the piles on the dining table. Then retrieve the bag from the loft and pack. My wardrobe takes longer as I plan and match to minimise extras.

Uniforms and pe kits I did the first weekend as I knew we would be busy.

nowheree · 18/04/2019 19:13

There’s 7 of us so it ends up being so much to do
I think as dc go back to school tues it’s just been more to do as I know I have to have house in order uniforms ready etc

DH books our anniversary trip. I book family trips back to see family etc the rest of the year. He packs his own things. Doesn't pack much luckily, which leaves me room to buy things to put in his case!
