Solid shampoo and conditioner recommendations

I’m trying to reduce plastic use and thought I’d try shampoo and conditioner bars. I’m using Lush st the moment, Jason and the argan oil shampoo and sugar daddy o conditioner. I really like them although im not keen on the smell of the sugar daddy. I’d like to try some different makes too, can anyone recommend some good ones. My hair is blonde, coloured so needs to be moisturised. Thanks Smile

I bought the 'friendly' shampoo bar - smells nice but it seems to leave a residue in my hair afterwards, always feels a bit icky. We are in a hard water area so maybe that's why.

I love the idea, but having only used the Lush ones, been really disappointed that my hair feels neither clean not nice and soft after using them.

Thanks grumiosmum I’ll have a look at that, I’ve seen friendly on amazon. I live in a soft water area so that’s not a problem. The lush shampoo lathers up and rinses our very easily and the conditioner leaves my hair nice and soft. I might try some different ones from there and get DP some as well.

@grumsiomum that's interesting. I've just started using a friendly bar and noticed a similar residue. We're also in a hard water area. I wonder what to do about it?

crocsaretoocoolforschool · 18/04/2019 19:00

The lush bars are full of sulphates so I can't use them -they leave my scalp itchy and my hair stringy and knotty

Lush has put me off so I've not tried anymore

I love the lush ones--the best one so far is the purple juniper scented one. Sulphates don't seem to affect me as much as other people on here though...my hair texture is a lot better since switching to them.

Use a vinegar rinse a couple of times a week with the friendly ones until your hair adjusts. That'll get rid of the residue.

I order shampoo & soap bars from www.wild-sage.co.uk/ and they work really well for me. Plus I like buying from a small business, and they come packaged in paper & cardboard so no plastic involved.

I tried a few but settled on a goats milk one from Baaath Time. It leaves my hair feeling clean and soft and, weirdly, curlier.

I use a solid conditioner from Anything but plastic, think it's the jojoba one. It's surprisingly good.
