Would you order from Debenhams at the moment if you needed to return?

Looking to buy a dress, so was going to order a few to return the ones I don’t need, amongst with some tops/underwear etc. DH thinks this is crazy as I can end up being unable to return them if things get worse and risk being stuck with unsuitable clothes. Would you risk ordering?

No

Moooooooooooooooooo · 17/04/2019 23:12

Just have and returned one item for a full refund yesterday with no problems.

RaininSummer · 17/04/2019 23:28

There's a notice on the site saying that they are under new ownership and all orders, returns and vouchers will be honoured.

I saw the notice, but DH was worried that that could change tomorrow if I ordered. But also avoiding ordering from them only helps their deadline. And I wanted their specific brands!

With a credit card, yes.

KnifeAngel · 18/04/2019 07:04

Everything is running as normal at the moment.

M0reGinPlease · 18/04/2019 07:10

Use a credit card and you will have protection anyway.

RoseAndRose · 18/04/2019 07:13

I though credit card protection wouid swing in if items were not supplied, or if they were not merchandisable quality.

Not for 'don't really like it/poor fit' returns.

M0reGinPlease · 18/04/2019 07:33

Credit card protection will cover your statutory rights which is usually 28 days to return an item in resaleable condition. Plus if you buy online you are entitled to a seven day cooling off period anyway, as you have not viewed the item in real life.

Mapofthesoul · 18/04/2019 07:36

I have just returned a parcel and had an email yesterday to say my refund was being processed. I know what you mean though and not sure I will order again unless it is something I will definitely keep like make up.

There is no statutory right to return anything you bought in store because you don’t like it/doesn’t fit.

Bisset · 18/04/2019 07:37

House of Fraser’s website operated as normal for a few days after it went into administration, then all hell broke loose.

I wouldn’t risk it.

MoreSlidingDoors · 18/04/2019 07:37

And online the statutory right is not 7 days.

Credit card protection only kicks in at £100 spend too.

M0reGinPlease · 18/04/2019 08:25

It's 14 days actually, not 7

No.

Chopchopbusybusy · 18/04/2019 08:31

Yes I did yesterday.

ItsAGo · 18/04/2019 10:34

If it was an item I knew I’d keep then it would be no issue, but not if I have to return things.

I really, really wouldn't. Right now the competent staff are all polishing their CVs, being headhunted or have already buggered off. I can't say exactly how I know, but I've been watching this coming for years. Returns processing was always pretty shit at the back end, and if they revert to the old method of not recrediting until the item's back at the depot...

ItsAGo · 19/04/2019 00:27

Thanks disgrace, I will just have to go on a day trip instead. It appreciate it, and would risk it if only for one item.

They've always been shit for returns in my experience. I've found returning direct to store less stress.
