Countryside in the uk

Hi, looking for some suggestions of beautiful countryside, not just counties but specific villages or small market towns. Hoping to sell up, buy a vardo and travel.
Know people all over the country but not necessarily what it's like where they live.

North Norfolk Coast - Specifically Hunstanton to Salthouse. Walk or Kayak. Spend time on the beach with book, crayons, or quiet contemplation.

North Cornish Coast - Anywhere from Tintagel around to Coverack. Specifically: Bedruthan Steps, Gwithian, Sennen and Porthcurno. Walk or Kayak. Book, crayons and yoga.

Cotswolds - Stow-on-the Wolds, Snowshill (check out the Manor), Hidcote. Walk, smell the roses, sit in a pub garden.

Northumberland, Lake DIstrict (Tarn Hows)....

Scotland...Wales.....Ireland...all of it....

Don't stop.

Can I come?

MockerstheFeManist · 17/04/2019 18:28

Rutland is the 'secret Cotswolds,' with the ospreys on the reservoir and Ruddles in the pub.

Next Door, Leicestershire has the best village names: Peatling Magna, Willoughby Warterlys and Frisby-on-the-Wreake, etc.

Aw these are brilliant, and of course you can come A1203 with pleasure.
Norfolk is sounding great and is on our list we have friends there and I'm quite familiar as lived there for 12 years. I miss it, part of the reason we are planning this. Grin
Kids grown up, or nearly gone now, so it's our time.

I live on the edge of the Dark Peak. The countryside is beautiful, but not really suitable for a vardo.

Vinorosso74 · 17/04/2019 19:55

There's some beautiful places in Northumberland. So many castles! Alnwick, Bamburgh, Warkworth-all with a town/village. Alnwick can be a bit busy. So many places-Morpeth and Hexham are bigger market towns with shops etc. So many nice towns villages-Alnmouth, Corbridge, Rothbury. Lovely NT and English Heritage places at Cragside, Wallington and Belsay. The coast is beautiful.
Further south the coast at Tynemouth and Whitley Bay is lovely but a lot more residential.

TapasForTwo · 17/04/2019 19:56

Shropshire is a very undervalued county with so many interesting places to visit. We had one of our best UK holidays there. We also found it less busy with traffic than other areas. The countryside is rolling, so much more suitable for a vardo than where I live.

froomeonthebroom · 17/04/2019 19:57

Malvern Hills

Shropshire is lovely. We have stayed beside the Llangollen canal twice in a holiday cottage and it is just lovely. Chirk aqueduct and Pontsycllte aqueduct are incredible.the whole Llangollen canal is just lovely to walk beside.

Castleton in Peak District is just lovely, a perfect base for experiencing the dark peak.

Threlkeld in the Northern Lakes is a lovely little village and great base for exploring the quieter northern lakes area.

Warkworth in Northumberland: has a charming windy river, castle and the sea less than a mile away.

Blakeney in Norfolk has a special place in my heart. Growing up, Norfolk was the closest coast and we all loved Blakeney, it's got such charm.

Singletomingle · 17/04/2019 20:12

No one has mentioned the lake district pick a town or village and in every direction is spectacular scenery and abundant walks.

Doubletrouble99 · 18/04/2019 00:46

Love our part of the Scottish Borders, lovely village and direct train into all the culture in Edinburgh, perfect.

MinnieWebs · 18/04/2019 07:55

Barbon in the Yorkshire Dales, gorgeous scenery and plenty of walks/cycling/ activities. Also only 30 minutes from Windermere so a great hub

wheresmyhairytoe · 18/04/2019 08:23

North Yorkshire moors, Forest of Dean or Snowdonia.
