Nausea and diarrhea (sometimes green) for 6 days now :(

Hi all,
I do have a tendency to get stomach bugs (and IBS) but this time, I've had nausea and lack of appetite for 6 days so far (usually it'll be for 1-2 days) and diarrhea 3 times a day (some days it's green which is unusual for me).

Can stomach bugs last that long? Any cures/remedies for it?

I didn't want to take imodium in case it stops the exit of a stomach bacteria/virus and makes it last longer.

Thanks

Hmm it sounds like gastroenteritis or something....and that can take a few weeks to properly clear up tbh. Don't take Imodium unless you need to be somewhere inportant (but avoid if you can). Plenty of fluids and eat something when you d's...scrambled egg is good, toast or crackers ext. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Eat something when you can*

DC2 had it for a bit longer. The sickness was for a few days, the nausea was about a week and the diarrhoea was about 10 days (but didn't start until she was 4 days into the sickness / nausea)

Diarrhoea was always in the evenings, 3 times in a row and a strange colour.

Horrible, nasty bug. Other kids had a variation of it but neither as bad as DC2.

Thanks everyone so far, your stories make me feel a bit better. Was always told a stomach bug only really lasts for 1-3 days so didn't know what to think and the green diarrhea thing was fairly new as well :/

@Crunchymum what remedies ended up helping to cure your child btw?

She just had to get it out of her system.

I just kept her hydrated, let her eat when she fancied (plain and dry stuff) and gave her lots of cuddles she's only 4

I had d and v for four weeks and the gp just checked for dehydration but wasn't overly worried
