Mine are sniffing the bottle of toasted sesame oil, just love it!
And then Barbour wax jacket smell makes me feel I'm cuddling up to my lovely DH on a cold day.

Freshly cut grass. 20 years or so ago, The Gap sold soap called “fresh cut grass” which smelt like it and I loved it. Always wished I’d stocked up. No idea when they stopped it. I’ve hoped they bring it back, but no Confused

Freshly blown out birthday candles - makes me feel all nostalgic. My Nana used to make every grandchild an absolutely epic Victoria sponge birthday cake with homemade jam and the smell of candles going out instantly makes me think of that Grin Poor Nana can’t bake anymore as she’s riddled with arthritis Sad I’ve tried my best to replicate the birthday cakes, but mine just aren’t up to Nana-calibre deliciousness

Wood smoke
Summer rain
Clean laundry that's been dried in the garden on a sunny day
Fully synthetic two stroke smoke

Frouby · 17/04/2019 10:50

The smell of trodden down, driven over grass. Reminds me of horse shows.

Horse. And horse poo. And the yard I learnt to ride at as a child. I find all yards have their own smell.

Old fashioned hoof oil and glycerine saddle soap.

Lots of horsey smells.

But also ds. When he was a baby and even now as a 5 year old. He smells of health. Unless he's ill, which I can smell coming.

Growing tomatoes.

DH. Hes a builder, so often smells sweaty and dirty and manly. I love it.

White Musk and Dewberry smells like my teens.

And a newborn smell does something primal to me somewhere. Cuddled my 3 day old nephew a few weeks ago and it made me incredibly broody. I am not a broody person.

Also my dds bedroom. It smells of her perfumes and lotions and potions and paper and books and just of her.

IntoValhalla · 17/04/2019 11:46

Frouby I’m with you on the newborn smell. A fresh baby smell is at its best in the first few hours/days after birth and I have to talk my ovaries down Blush
Obviously hasn’t worked, because I’m now expecting DC3 Blush

LadyOfTheCanyon · 17/04/2019 13:42

Alchemilla Mollis

Freshly mown grass
Rain after a long hot spell
Glenmorangie whisky
Freshly laid tarmac on the road

Smells which make me go bleurgh:

Coffee
Most perfumes
Lush shops
Garlic
Cinnamon

Raera · 17/04/2019 15:33

Oh yes, good idea to add bleurgh as well as Aaaah
My bleurgh is definitely cig smoke (I'm an ex-smoker and we are the worst!)

I spent a wonderful childhood in Africa where it often didn't rain for over two years .That amazing smell and sounds from parched earth after rainfall is my most favourite smell .It brings back such happy memories. There is even a name for it ..Petrichor.

TSSDNCOP · 17/04/2019 17:01

I love the faint whiff of fag smoke on a warm summer eve. Other times Envy
