Chicken pox and GP

My sons had woken with what I suspect is chicken pox. He also has a very sore tummy and is generally unwell. I'm worried about the sore tummy part as he is prone to constipation. I am also not sure i should take him to a GP surgery. WhY would you do? Please. I welcome all advice.

I wouldn’t take a child with chicken pox to the GP.

If there were any concerning symptoms I would phone for advice and if really needed make sure they Had a seperate waiting area sorted

CP shouldn’t warrant a trip to the gp unless you are worried about infected pox or a high temp.

It’s very contagious so not ideal being in a drs waiting room.

It isn’t nice though, in fact cp sucks. Virasoothe is great for when the itching starts.

Phone and ask? It's contagious so warn them in advance as nobody wants to sit in the waiting room with a poxy child. You wouldn't normally go to the gp with it unless you feared it was infected

If you do take him, ring ahead and tell the GP you suspect chicken pox. I did this when one of my DC was a baby and they still wanted me to bring him in, but arranged for me to wait in a separate office.

No need to go to gp for chicken pox. Ours did a house visit but DD has several other serious health issues and he sent us to hospital.

If it's the constipation you're worried about, does your surgery do telephone consultations? My DD suffers a lot with constipation and all her medication has been prescribed over the phone.

I know chicken pox doesn't need a GP
My concern was the tummy aches and possible constipation. I am trying to call and get a telephone consult.

I would phone explain the situation and see if you can get a prescription over the phone. If you get it sent to the pharmacy they often deliver the medicine especially in your circumstances.
