Have funciton coming up where we will be out for two hours so need to come back to food prepped.
Other than calling in caterers what could I cook?

I have six rings (normal cooked and portable) so could do steaks. Everyone is a fairly plain eater. Or curry (mild) in slow cooker.

Or soup in slow cooker to give me a chance to cook something when we get in? Thank You for any ideas

I've done this a good few times, and some kind of casserole is your friend - it can be left cooking in the oven for a couple of hours while you're elsewhere. We used to do it with rice (which takes about 30 mins for that amount on a domestic cooker) and a couple of plain veg (frozen peas are your friend!). We had a small (50cm wide) gas cooker at the time, so you should be fine!

Have you got enough sir down space at tables for everyone? Or will they need to be standing? If standing jackets potatoes etc are a no-no and you'd be better with other forkable a options.

Our dining room holds six but we have a table we would set up to hold another six. Then teens and kids but they are easy going type/ probably happy on a bean bag

I’ve previously cooked for 20+ people with all sorts of fuss pots. I’m now veggie but first two were when we were huge meat eaters:

50th birthday party
Slow cooked pork (joint) and pulled it
Slow cooked lambs leg
Roast potatoes (pre cooked and heat up or par boiled and roast)
Roasted veg / large salad bowl
Bread rolls / French stick
Lashings of gravy

Anniversary party
Pumpkin & squash soup
Beef and mushroom casserole
Vegetarian chilli
Jacket potatoes

All can be cooked and then put in slow cookers to heat up whilst you’re gone.

30th birthday party (after being veggie)
Vegetarian lasagnas (3 big ones)
Vegetable bake with puff pastry top
Salad
Jacket potatoes

Everyone family brings a desert for 4 -6 people.

20 baked pots, could be cooked beforehand and re heated or use the 46 (very specific...) mins you have beforehand to cook plus another 35 would be needed once the guests arrive to complete pots and you could then re-heat a large pot of chilli, maybe be make a small veggie one too. Grated cheese, Baguette, sorted. If a pud is needed prep 3 large apple crumbles and cook whilst main being eaten, serve with custard.
