Will trampoline be safe - no tie down kit

I just bought a trampoline and realised i left the tie down kit in store. I won't have a chance to get it til the weekend. My scary neighbour made a comment about it not blowing into his garden. Will it be ok? For a week not being tied down? Ive read about them blowing away and damaging electric wires.

WE see them flying here during storms, but this is Australia!
What's the weather forecast?

runandbehappy50 · 14/04/2019 20:37

No. Don't risk it!

We had one for about 10 years when I was a kid and it was never tried down... we also didn’t have one of those big nets round it 😬 It never blew away and my brother and I still only have one (unrelated) broken finger between us.

We have never tied ours down (12ft one) and it's been fine for years

clandestinenetwork · 14/04/2019 20:42

I didn't know you were supposed to tie them down...Shock We have a 12ft Plum one which is netted and even with the recent very strong winds, it's been the only thing in our garden which hasn't budged an inch.

We only tie ours down over winter. It should be fine this time of year.

Jeffjefftyjeff · 14/04/2019 20:45

We tied ours down when storms were forecast during winter but up till that point had been fine.

Bittern11 · 14/04/2019 20:48

Have never tried ours down - but ours is huge. It has been fine.

LazyFace · 14/04/2019 20:50

My small one was moved up a hill in our garden once in a big storm in its 5 years of life, didn't even come with tie-down kit.

picklemepopcorn · 14/04/2019 21:01

My neighbours lifted straight up out of her garden and over the six foot wall. It narrowly missed the fancy car over the road, and took me and a few others to hold it down then get it back into the garden. I was left hanging onto it shouting until help came.

myhamsteratefreddiestarr · 14/04/2019 21:03

My 8ft one wasn’t tied down but after it blew around the garden a few times , we used upins to peg it down firmly.

Blankiefan · 14/04/2019 21:35

Ours flew overall the wall on the first storm. Get a tie kit tomorrow.

motheroreily · 15/04/2019 10:49

Thanks so much. I felt reassured it will be ok this week but wouldve got a tie down kit at the weekend. However, i found it today!!! It was so dark when i finished putting the trampoline up i couldn't see the box with the tie down kit. Hooray

I'm in Scotland and it isn't that unusual to see them in other peoples gardens or indeed blowing down the street during a big storm. This time of year should be fine though.
