Theme Parks

Hi, we're looking to visit one with my 16 and 13 year old. Problem is the 13 year old doesn't like really fast rides. So we're looking for one that has a fair amount of 'inbetween' rides. Something more than Teacups and the like but not like Walters?.
Any recommendations please?

In what area of the country roughly?

Look at local theme parks, rather than the big names

In Herts, can drive a couple of hours

And you, what area?

How about Drayton Manor?

formerbabe · 13/04/2019 10:17

Not sure if it's too far for you but Dreamland in Margate is really good. Took my two there last year and the rides were exciting enough but not petrifying iyswim!

Chessington

Or Southend?

Gullivers world

00100001 · 13/04/2019 10:27

Gulliver's is possibly a bit "young" though?
I don't think the 16yo would be impressed?

00100001 · 13/04/2019 10:28

But Gulliver's is an excellent park for kids! Can't recommend it enough!

barcodescanner · 13/04/2019 10:32

Just looked at Drayton Manor, that could possibly work. Yes the 16 year old likes the thrill rides so need to accommodate both so Gulliver's wouldn't work. Eldest wants to go to Thorpe Park, not sure there's enough for the youngest there though.
Thanks for replies

Definitely not enough at Thorpe park for the youngest

Gullivers is definitely for young children. Family friendly rides are generally quite babyish in my experience. The best mix of rides is probably Blackpool Pleasure beach. They have the roller coasters that are more family friendly like the Big Dipper and Nickelodeon Streak, Steeplechase, Avalance etc and then the 'big' coasters.

Lemonsole · 14/04/2019 13:09

Paultons in Hampshire has a few big rides, but more for the more gently inclined.

MamaRaisingBoys · 14/04/2019 13:11

Cheasingron or Drayton manor

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 14/04/2019 13:28

Thorpe Park has some good water rides - Tidal Wave, Storm Surge, Rumba Rapids - that are not too fast. There is a drop tower, dodgems, a tall slide and a couple of non-rollercoaster 'big' rides - Rush is a giant swing which is amazing and there is a magic carpet type.

DS1 is a thrill junkie but DS2 doesn't do the big coasters. Thorpe is still our favourite park by miles as we all find stuff to do

Thanks all, more to look at
