Advice from a witch please

Hi, really random question! I do some little crafty bits and I'm looking for some advice please. I have been asked by a work colleague to make a gift for her friend, who I have never met. She tells me that her friend is a witch and that she would like me to incorporate some witch symbols on to the item. When asked what type of witch (I don't know if there's different types) she couldn't answer as she wasn't sure. Said she's "just a witch".

Can anybody help and give me advice please? I don't want to cause offence in any way at all! I don't know if there's different types or what the symbols mean. I'd love to get this right so any advice is very much appreciated Smile

Great thank you! I did have a look on Google however because I don't know if there's different types, I didn't want to keep looking in case I got it totally wrong. Do you know much about it? Tia

Just... I wouldn't. People can get funny about symbols. There are some you shouldn't reproduce, and some you should treat with special reverence.

If friend of a friend is light hearted about being a witch you could be safer in the realm of a witches hat, or broomstick, or silhouette of witch on broomstick or something.

Also, not knowing what "type" of witch she is, is really unhelpful. I am a witch; There are symbols that wouldn't make sense to me because they're pagan and I'm not into that, shamanic and reiki symbols make sense to me but I wouldn't necessarily want then reproduced for the sake of decoration of something, and some symbols from other systems I'm actively averse to and absolutely would not keep an item with them on.

It's really not a good plan, nice though the thought is.

Thanks for your reply.

See this is exactly what I was worried about. The last thing I want to do is cause offence to anybody by getting it completely wrong either with the "type" or in the actual symbols.

Your advice is spot on. I'll just need to tell colleague that I can't do it with the little information I have.

Thanks Smile

The one I like is the triquetra.

So I've clarified with colleague. Her friend is a Hedgewitch. She's asked me to paint a nature-type item as opposed to actual symbols.

Thanks for the replies Smile

Sounds great! Nice work :)

Hi to all that gave advice. I've painted this (hopefully the photos have attached!)

I painted the hawthorn as it has Sacred meaning. As then I selected some symbols for Peace, Friendship, Goddess, Air, Water etc.

Do you think this would be suitable?
Thanks.

That’s lovely

Palominoo · 14/04/2019 20:00

That’s fabulous.

Ah, thank you!! I make them in to little keyrings or hanging charms. Wasn't planning on putting the photos on here but was just checking I was on the right page!

I'll let you know what my colleague says once she's given it to her friend. Thanks again Thanks
