Interconnecting rooms....

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 12/04/2019 22:22

On the back of another thread about hotels, any recommendations for UK hotels with interconnecting rooms?
We are a family of 5. Don't mind where, would be nice if it had a pool in case weather is rubbish, and want to stay for a couple of nights.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not very clued up on hotels but I know some Holiday Inns do suite rooms which are suitable for a family of 5. Some also have a pool, I know the one we stayed in in Bristol does. Sorry if that's not very helpful!

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 13/04/2019 09:23

That's really helpful thankyou Bees!
I've been trawling through hotel booking sites ansd they always say book 2 rooms but don't say if they are connected!

We ended up giving up on this and just booking any 2 rooms when we had to stay in hotels! We often asked for interconnecting only to discover they weren’t. How old are the dc?

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 13/04/2019 09:39

That's annoying cake!
They are 6, 10 and 12

We're a family of 5 too and it's really annoying isn't it. If we go away again it's either going to be a suite or just two rooms with me in one with kids and one with DH and other kids!
You could always ring and ask if there's any interconnecting but I guess they might not do this for security reasons.

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 13/04/2019 09:51

So annoying bees! I keep clicking on booking.com but I don't want to take the risk of booking and then being at opposite ends of the hotel!

You can book interconnecting rooms at the Radisson Blu hotel in Leeds (no pool though). I'd guess that other Radisson Blus around the country would have interconnecting rooms too.

SimonJT · 13/04/2019 09:55

Marriots tend to have interconnecting rooms.

Parkrunner25 · 13/04/2019 09:57

The Hyatt Regency in Birmingham has interconnecting rooms on the club floor (I'm assuming on the others too) and a pool.

hopeishere · 13/04/2019 09:59

If it's UK I'd phone them and ask rather than using booking.com. And you might get a better price.

We did use that site to book rooms in Amsterdam and I just made a note on the booking for interconnecting rooms and we got an amazing set of rooms.

Berystede near Ascot.

If you want to be guaranteed interconnecting rooms in any hotel you really need to call them and book direct though, most will only have a few.

hopeishere · 13/04/2019 10:01

Does it have to be a hotel? We stayed in a place called Balbinny in a house with a shared pool. It was fantastic.

BoglingToAswad · 13/04/2019 10:01

And you might get a better price.

Yes, and if you see a better rate online mention it to them as most chains will price match.

LadyPenelope68 · 13/04/2019 10:03

Holiday Inn hotels usually have some connecting rooms, best to book with the hotel you want direct as they can check for you to make sure that's what you've booked. The ones at Chester, Gosforth Park and Ellesmere Port definitely do, all those three have pools. The Gosforth Park one is lovely hotel, great with children and some great stuff to do in the area.

LadyPenelope68 · 13/04/2019 10:04

Or alternatively, the Gosforth Park rooms are huge compared to a lot of hotels, plus have 2 double beds and you can ask for a roll away bed in the room, easily enough space for 5

Branleuse · 13/04/2019 10:13

look for aparthotels or apartments instead. Youll probably have more choice than trying to find interconnecting rooms in my experience

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 13/04/2019 11:07

Thanks so much!
Lots to look at now!!
It doesn't have to be a hotel as long as there is a breakfast option as the kids live that!

OP posts:
OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 13/04/2019 11:07

Do aparthotels do breakfast?

OP posts:
Branleuse · 13/04/2019 11:21

it would depend on the one you chose. I stayed in an apartment in malta last week in a resort and breakfast was available

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 13/04/2019 11:22

OK so proabalt need to make a short list then call....

OP posts:
Branleuse · 13/04/2019 11:24

i know on booking.com, you can specify apartments and also specify breakfast

SillyBillyBandy · 13/04/2019 11:25

Sofitel often have them

OhDearWhyAmIFatterly · 13/04/2019 11:26

But the apartments tend to be more like self catering accommodation and we are looking for a more hotel vibe

Malmaison often have interconnected rooms as they are renovated older properties. The Dundee one is great and there's loads of stuff to do there. Apex as well, Grassmarket Edinburgh has pool.
