Ryanair seats

I know I'm being tight by not paying the extra £5 per seat per flight to guarantee three of us sit together ...& I'm not going to ask anyone on the plane to move to enable my dc & me to sit together but ...
Does anyone know how the random allocation works? (We fly next week, short internal flight so no biggie if we are sitting apart. )
But when you go to check in, on the app, can you swap the assigned seats given to your party before confirming or do you get one shot and 99% sure to be stuck other end of the plane from each other ?

Once you check in you are randomly allocated seats.

The only way to swap them is to pay.

If you don't pay for seats, the system will automatically, wherever possible, put you in middle seats on separate rows. It used to be that they would put you together (if possible), but that is no longer the case.

You can change your assigned seats after check-in by going onto the website and clicking on My bookings. You might be able to do this on the app as well.

by going onto the website and clicking on My bookings
... and paying, of course.
They're not "randomly assigned". There's an algorithm that decides where you sit if you don't pay.

Sorry pressed send too soon.

The random allocation automatically fills ‘gaps’ so 90% of the time you are likely to be sat apart.
It’s basically because they want the groups of seats to be filled last so they are free to be paid for.

You don’t get more than one shot, you can’t go back and refresh it for different seats, once you check in it will allocate the seats.

Thanks. Thought that would be the case. Just have to hope that it's half empty and we can sit wherever we like once abroardWink

Ryanair gives free seats to under 15 as long as one adult pre books so it’s not actually that dear, think about £24 for the adult then all kids free

Do they sunshine?? I've not seen that advertised in the hundred emails they keep sending me to remind me to buy a seat...

We flew Ryan air last year, 2 booked seats together, the other 2 of us didn't. Randomly we were seated v near the 2 who had booked and someone who realised we were all together insisted we swap. Worked out well, although I would never to cheeky enough to ask or expect anyone to move.

For the last few years, several times a year, ice paid to choose jet2 seats so 4 of us could be together. Flew easy jet in January and didn't bother but we were all put together, so for this month's jet2 flight I took the chance, and again, we're all together.

Ryan air are clearly in the minority of not doing it unless you pay!

Hmm.one dc 12, other is older. Maybe that's why it hasn't been flagged to me?
I'm sure we will be fine.
And I promise I won't go rolling into the plane demanding that darling little Snooki's must sit near mumsy!

I hope you are able to fly with a different airline next time you fly. Remember if you are opposed to the Grand National as a form of animal cruelty you are condoning it if your fly with Ryanair as Michael O'Leary owns horses that have taken part, including this year's winner.

If I was running the country all airlines would be obliged to sit together those who book together. One of the bad customer practices I would outlaw.
