The less I do, the happier I am. Anyone else?

I used to love to colour my hair, trying out different looks. Then there was always the growing out, or colouring out, roots, damage etc.
I decided to just let it be. No colour, no styling products, just keep it clean and healthy and tidy.

I used to love buying makeup, changing looks with the new seasons and trends.
Then I'd feel guilty about having to get rid of expired make up that wasn't finished, spending loads on new stuff every six months, and then fixing my skin (which didn't really like being covered every day).
I started to cut back how often I wore it, used lighter amounts, trimmed my routine.
Eventually, I reached the point where I just moisturize and pluck stray hairs.
Make up is for special events now.

I used to love getting my nails done, then started doing them myself, now I just keep them clean and trimmed.

Honestly, I used to see people like me and think, "aw, she's given up, poor thing" Blush
Now , I get it. I feel happy and free and comfortable as I am, the same as I used to feel by doing those very things!
I don't feel like I have given up at all, more like I have won the race already, by stepping out of it, if that makes any sense?
Anyone else sidestepped it all, and feeling good with it?

Shouldn't need to be said, but clearly I don't judge those who are still happy with doing those things, as it made me happy too

If course buying all this stuff keeps women short of money, therefore making them dependent on men. Just a thought.

This winter I have lived in jeans and a variety of nice tops. I have got rid of all the clothes which are not jeans and nice tops. It's a bit of a radical change, for me.

This summer, I'll see what I wear and get rid of anything that isn't earning its keep.

Oh I love this thread .
I get my nails done for weddings which is about once a year and the Xmas party . Brows and lip wax once every 5 weeks and a hair cut when badly overdue . My wardrobe is jeans sketchers , t shirt and zip up hoodies and I'm loving it . Work black trousers and blouse and cardigan and boots . May think about the summer wardrobe soon but prob same except summer blouse and sandals . I have joined the declutter thread so I'm off now to throw some old clothes away now !

I was going to get my nails done for a night out a bit ago, but the closer it got to the time to book an appointment, the more I was talking myself out of it
The cost, the upkeep, it's a pain on the arse trying to do up zippers, they scratch easily, but ironically don't give relief when you are itchyHmm
In the end, I just painted my natural nails and spent the difference on drinks while we were out!Blush

Northend when I say get my nails done I mean a file and paint of my own nails . I get about 5 days out of it. Girls in work are always going to get a nail repaired etc . I just can't be bothered . But I can understand why some like it .

cantstopeating01 ah, I get ya!

I totally see why people like having them done, I used to walk out of the salon just about in love with myself, haha, talking with my hands wherever I could.
Then by about day three, I start freaking out that they aren't getting clean enough underneath, that I'm wrecking them working the beach, that I've already scratched them up...
