We’re heading to London tomorrow on the train to visit the NHM with our two DC.

DS5 will be fine - he can walk miles

Here’s my question- DD3 can do the walking but do we take the buggy ‘just in case’. We don’t use the buggy that often so it would be a pain to dig it out.

What is your experience?

The tube near there is one of the less accessible ones. So lots of walking or the buggy is a bit of a pain. Pick your poison!

What station will you arrive at

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/04/2019 16:10

It will be very busy. Mine preferred being s sling so they weren't trampled and could see things at three... But it does depend on them being used to it.

There can be a lot of standing around queuing too.

If you only plan on going to the NHM then it is opposite the tube stop (South Kensington) so almost no walking from that point. Plenty of places to stop for a rest around the museum if you need to rest little legs I think taking the buggy just in case will be a hindrance. Although there is a cloakroom, not sure if you can leave buggy's ?

I found it possible to take my two and a pram because I could pick the pram up with the youngest in it and carry it up and down the tube steps. We had two changes on the underground to manage though.
Not sure I would take the pram if I couldn’t carry it and child together, far too many steps to bump up and down.
Museum was fine though, if eyewateringly expensive, compared to Glasgow museums 😂

It's free Hmm

It's not far from south Ken tube but we find the buses easier depends what station you start from

The NHM is free so not sure which museum you visited. I know they charge for certain group tours but I doubt many go on those.

She’ll be 4 in June so she’s a ‘big’ 3

I know whatever we do will be wrong.... it’s just how wrong!

We’ll get into London Bridge or Charing Cross and then tube it to South Ken... so not loads of walking. But worried about the tired whinging 😬

Pushchairs can be left in the cloakroom at the museum for free.

@MrsTerryPratchett
@SilverySurfer
Sorry, I should have been clearer, the cafe is expensive. The museum is free, although they did have a guy at the NHM asking for donations at the entrance.
I guess Glasgow Museums subsidise there cafes so you can have a really great, cheap, day out with little organisation (although many people bring packed lunches, they provide places to eat them). Entertainment, food and cheap parking. I spent £20 on drinks and a couple of cakes in the NHM, which is probably reasonable for London, just not what I’m used to.

Don't forget the Science Museum next door.
