Credit card fraud

It really could be a coincidence... and I don't think I can or will do anything but.... WWYD?
DC2 (11) had a friend over at the weekend. Not a particularly close friend- they just live nearby. I have since found out DS gave his friend his login to a computer game on a website. It had my credit card details on- for in game purchases.
This morning (Tues) I had a call from my credit card saying they had blocked a suspected fraudulent transaction- nearly £80 on Amazon digital- attempted late yesterday.
Apart from cancelling the card and reading DS the riot act about failing to safeguard my financial info, would you do or say anything? eg not have the child over again??? Am i being awful even being slightly suspicious?
(The family used a relative's address in a secondary school application last year, and were found out. Is this even relevant? Or is it enough to say I should be alert????)

I've never seen a site that stores credit card info in its entirety, it's normally obfuscated and for every purchase you need to re-input the expiry date and CVV.
Does this game show all of your card info, if so I'd ring the maker of the game and give them the riot act. I'd remove my financial info from any games my children have access to as well.
Bit of a leap to assume that them fibbing over an address could indicate their 11yo would commit fraud though isn't it?
I'd suggest it could be a coincidence unless every detail is stored and visible in the game...I'm pleased your bank managed to catch the transaction - can they tell you where the purchase was attempted from?

Thanks for replying- I cant get into the account yet to see what financial info is available - DS ( or someone) has reset the password and he is still at school. But that's a good way to see if I can rule the friend out of any suspicions.
The credit card person could tell me the time of the attempted transaction but not why it had been flagged as suspicious. I'm guessing that Amazon asked for the Ccv, maybe because it was not a login from my usual device?..and the fraudster didn't have it.
I'm just glad the credit card fraud procedures work . Not a huge amount of money to some people but significant to me... Also makes me think it's not a big time Russian hacker, more of a youngster trying to get downloads/ music/ games etc off Amazon digital.

I'd be amazed if any gaming site showed your credit card number in full along with the expiry date and CCV! Even low security ones wouldn't display this.

It's far more likely that your card details have been skimmed in another way (by entering them on a less than secure website) than your child's friend grabbing your card details.

In fact if your card details are saved to your internet account e.g. Google, I'd be more suspicious of your child attempting to buy something by using the pre-populated card drop down...although they'd still need the CCV to do this, but that's pretty easy to memorise compared with a full card number.

If it's Amazon digital it could be items related to the game, many games have stores where huge amounts could be spent on ingame items, currency etc.

You shouldn't give children unrestricted access to accounts with your credit card info stored, precisely for this reason. There have been cases where kids have spent £1000's on items for phone apps and the refunds have been refused as you have agreed to it all in the terms of service.

Pretty certain it's not DS. He's a Playstation user. We've never used Amazon Digital - in fact i'd never heard of it til the fraud notification this morning. Also the transaction was made at 1:30am. I could be wrong... but I doubt it. DS is a good lad!
I'm hoping my suspicions about the friend are wrong and that it is just a coincidence.

Well... couldn't get onto the laptop to check the game website... because the laptop has been completely attacked by a virus... so I think that sort of answers my question....
