What gives your life purpose/meaning?

Ever since I was a child I've always questioned my purpose in life. I wish I could just live day to day - I have a nice job, nice partner, nice home, nice holidays. Yet fundamentally I feel a bit lost and always prone to thinking 'what is the point of it all?' I don't feel actively depressed, just in search of something which I haven't found yet. It seems to me that most days are exactly the same - work, home, sleep, repeat. I do have hobbies but they seem more like temporary distractions than anything purposeful iyswim? I look at the people around me and they seem to plod along and don't constantly question the meaning of it all as I do, yet I can't seem to stop. I know most people by definition seem to live fairly 'ordinary' lives, but I don't seem to feel content with the routine of it. I know I do have a nice life and ought to be grateful - I'm working on that!

What gives your life purpose/meaning? Are you content or do you feel a sense of searching as well?

Family, nature, learning, visiting beautiful places, eating together etc

There may not be anything else to life and it is what you make it, so acceptance and realising what good fortune you already have is the way to contentment. Count your blessings, as they say. Sometimes life is tough and you need support, other times you can support others.

Fwiw, my childhood was loving, it made me. It wasn't perfect and there's aspects that others would disagree with, eg I was brought up with a faith, which I still have and take comfort from. But having a loving childhood has had the most positive effect in my adulthood, it is what I strive for for my DC.

Thanks for the book suggestions *InGoodCompany".

I don't think my life has any real purpose. I read a book called The Gratitude Diaries about 6 months ago, which gave me a positive approach to life, and I did keep a gratitude diary for a bit.

I don't actually think we have free will at all actually. That's a pretty big thing to get your head around.
