Madly itchy scalp. HELP

Omg it is driving me mad. Have tried Nizoral, selenium shampoo. I am taking HRT but have been happily for 6 months so not sure its that. I think it started after I used a particular brand of cheapish shampoo. I've even checked for nits (none!)

Could it be psoriasis? If that were the case, there are targeted treatments you could try.

Though when you said it's at the back of the neck and your ears, I think lice. This is a tell-tale symptom when my daughter gets them (itchy, red, bumpy back of the neck and behind the ears).

I got them from her once and I never saw any nits in my hair, but was able to comb out nymphs and had to keep wet combing for a couple of weeks to get rid of them. For me, the only sign was insane itching.

My sister ( who lives at the opposite end of the country) and I have both had this recently. Horrendous itchy scalp and massive flakes. This is all at the front of our heads and my sisters has spread down her face.

Only thing that's worked for me is the dandruff killer shampoo (in a white bottle) from amazon and a full head soak in the bath followed by an intensive conditioner spread over the scalp. I still have flakes but they are easily brushed out. My sister had to go to the doctors and they prescribed her steroids saying it was an eczema flare up.

This exact same scenario happened a few years ago. I noticed loads of people posting about it at the same time, so I wonder if it's a bug causing it- maybe a yeast. All of a sudden it went away and my scalp has been fine up until recently.

I have period bouts of an insanely itchy scalp. It makes me feel like I'm going mad it's so bad. Alphosyl shampoo is the only thing that works for me - but only if I follow the instructions to the letter (lots of massaging, and wash twice).

I suffer dreadfully from itchy scalp ( no flakes). I now use Phillip Kingsley itchy scalp shampoo, it's been a god send and really helps. Before this I tried phosphate free shampoo and olatumim but they didn't help at all.

I think first check if it is indeed not shingles, nits, psoriasis or similar that needs special attention. I´ve suffered from dermatitis in some form forever and two years ago I just gave up on all shampoo (even the ´natural´ ones were wrong for me). I´ve done the vinegar-thing for years but indeed my hair suffered a bit. Now, I´m using a solid shampoo soap with just four ingredients which are tolerated by my skin. I still rinse with ACV for the shine.
