Just that really. Dd needs to learn to drive and I am wondering if these one week driving courses are a good option. Any experiences, good or bad, please?

I did one of these passed on first attempt. Look for one with a high pass rate.

DS did this in school hols just after his 17th birthday. Went from never having driven on Monday to passing his test the following week on the Tuesday. Followed up with a Pass Plus course a month or so later.
Having found out about the idea of an intensive course we just contacted a few local driving schools a couple of months in advance and asked if they offered this way to learn. Ended up with a local instructor who block booked the week for DS's lessons and helped sort the test booking. The only other thing DS had to do was pass his theory test ready for day one of the course.

DS was an absolute beginner so the instructor recommended lessons over a two week period. He did Mon-Thurs the first week and Mon, Tues, Wed the second week. Passed first time on the Thursday.

There is a three month wait for driving tests in our area. How do they organise a test at such short notice?

I did 4 hours a day for a week followed by a few 1 hour top ups waiting for my test. It was with a normal driving instructor, not a specialist intensive one. 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon.

I found it a great way of doing it and passed first time (north east London).

Dh did it in a week having already passed the theory. Search for companies & get in touch. Dh has started lessons a couple of times but life happened & never got to test. So good to get it all over & done with. Weekly lessons would have dragged on & on!

Meme, I think they have access to or special dibs on cancellations but they seem to be able to book tests at short notice. Maybe some time is set aside for them.

I did one and it was great

Access to practical tests: learner needs to pass Theory Test before even booking the course, then they book their Practical test for the end of the intensive course week.
