Feeling silly!

I've been lurking on mumsnet for a while, commenting here and there. Thought I knew what most of the acronyms stood for but have just read the acronyms page and found I've been using one of them wrong!

I have been occasionally saying "RTFT" thinking I was being pleasant by saying "read the full thread" but found that it actually means "read the fucking thread" and that I've probably inadvertently been rude to people Blush

Has anyone else done anything like this!? Thinking that something meant one thing when it actually meant another?

Ah don't worry. It's pretty interchangeable - some people think 'full', some people think 'fucking' Smile

Ah thank God!! 😂 that makes me feel better

I thought that too.

It's both, dw

GlitterPixie · 07/04/2019 18:46

I always took it to mean read the full thread

labazsisgoingmad · 07/04/2019 19:26

can someone remind me how you do the crossing out in a thread thanking you in advance

iklboo · 07/04/2019 19:29

You put -- in front of and after the bit you want to cross out

Spam88 · 07/04/2019 19:55

I always thought it means 'full' but it's definitely never used politely...

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 07/04/2019 22:38

Spam88 - oh whoops! I think I've only ever used it in the context of "I've not rtft" or "If you rtft you'll see the OP said this" etc so hopefully as posters above have said it wont come across too rudely!
