Family are all out to dinner, I'm too I'll to go and instead moping and feeling sorry for myself alone on the sofa.

Please recommend a good film on Netflix (not a series, a film pls)

PS. I don't do rom-com's/chick-flicks, or gratuitous violence (e.g.. Saw and the like) but anything else is fine.

Thanks

Tully. Charlize Theron's last film... Really good. Highly recommend it for any mother!

Roman Holiday.

Fabulous fifties styling and filmed on location in Rome. The very handsome Grégory Peck and the completely gorgeous Audrey Hepburn.

It’s a cracking film, a proper classic.

Or, if you want a darker but extremely good film,

Sunset Boulevard.

Another absolute classic. Fabulous cinematography and a commentary that never gets old and is even more current today than it was back in the day.

The dirt on Netflix!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 07/04/2019 14:16

We watched The Zookeeper's Wife this week which was good and based on a true story.

I Am Not An Easy Man in Netflix is just fantastic. Came across it recently while I was soda bound with a chest infection. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2bFHdkzqSZA

Few Classics mentioned: can’t beat Brief Encounter (did people ever really speak like that?)

DuesToTheDirt · 07/04/2019 20:38

Edie - elderly widow wants to climb a mountain
Mudbound - set in 1940's rural Mississippi
Lion - small child in India gets separated from his family and lost

On Amazon
The Light Between Oceans, if you don't mind a bit of tragedy
Interstellar - complicated, though!

Edie - elderly widow wants to climb a mountain

You're really selling it! (We loved it too)

In that genre...

Lady in the Van
Swimming with Men - agree, it was lovely

Hope you're feeling better now OP!

spiderlight · 08/04/2019 13:22

Lion. I watched it at the weekend and it's amazing.

NoFancyUserName · 09/04/2019 15:09

My bloody internet went down! I never got to watch anything on Netflix or Amazon. (Useless Plusnet!) I had a long afternoon kip instead.

Thanks for all your suggestions though, many are being added to my watch lists Smile
