Should children be able to post videos on youtube

Just that really.

I've just heard that videos of children now have to have the comments disabled because of potential bullying/abuse and perverse comments and contact from preditors.

I've also heard that people post videos of children doing seemingly innocent things, such as playing in swimsuits so that they get lots of hits from pedophiles and then make money.

My 12 year old ss said that he doesn't post videos with his face due to this.

It got me thinking, should children be able to broadcast themselves to the world? Should parents be able to broadcast their kids to the world - which may, whether deliberately or accidentally appeal to perverts.

What is 12 year old ss posting and why. If he wants to make videos he can share via a private platform with his friends like WhatsApp. Why does the world need to see it. (I know they think they'll become YouTube superstars but really the only person watching most kids will be weirdos).

I think really YouTube should ban home videos showing children.

I agree. Children should not be the subject of YouTube videos and vlog’s full stop for so many reasons.

My guilty pleasure at the moment is The Grimwade Family a Christian family in London that have five children 8 and under (plus 2 puppies). It would be very easy from what they post in their vlog to figure out literally where they live. They have often posted the front of their home, their street and local businesses. I think it’s incredibly dangerous and have said so in the comments. Many other people agreed with me. The parents response was that they basically are trusting in God.

They clearly seem to be building a brand and their children talk directly to their subscribers on camera. I know all the children’s names and birthdays! It would be easy to approach them in the street and strike up a conversation with lots of personal information about their extended family and friends. I feel the parents are exploiting their children as their channel would definitely not be as popular without their adorable children.

This may be an extreme case but I agree that children should not be featured on YouTube.

One of the reasons parents can not be trusted to post appropriate content.

There was a doc on Netflix and the parents were letting their 14/15 year old daughter post very sexual pictures in instra. The mother then got upset that she got pervy comments. What did she expect. And guess what the daughter got a stalker and the boyfriend got death threats.
