Does anyone have weekends which they entirely waste lounging around on their laptop?

I'm having such a weekend this weekend..in 2 minds about it as shouldn't aim to always be productive and achieving 24/7 but then I am a perfectionist

The only reason I don’t waste my weekends lounging around on the laptop is because the pesky kids have so much on...sports, parties, cinema....if I wasn’t a text service I would spend most of the weekend in mindless internetting.

MusicalCranberries · 06/04/2019 20:50

I don't think it's a waste- every couple of weekends I need it for my sanity. More so in the winter.

Some days all you can achieve is clean knickers and a remotely tidy flat.

Crinkle77 · 06/04/2019 20:50

Yep and I love it.

Ragwort · 06/04/2019 20:51

Probably not the whole weekend but this afternoon I have done precisely nothing productive.

I think it is good to have 'down time' and not be 'productive' all the time, I have a friend who thinks it's a shocking waste of time to even read a book in the daytime. She is constantly 'busy' from the time she gets up (early) to when she goes to bed. She is retired, no children at home ........ does have a lovely home and garden but just being with her exhausts me. Grin.

“Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time,” said some profound lazy git, but their not wrong.

TooStressyTooMessy · 06/04/2019 20:51

That sounds like an awesome weekend. I used to do that pre-DC. I have zero chance of that ever happening though with 2DC with a whole lot of energy.

Notcontent · 06/04/2019 21:22

I’ve been doing that since this afternoon. It’s quite rare for me to be able to do nothing so I am enjoying being lazy. It does make me feel a little guilty.

MulticolourMophead · 06/04/2019 21:23

I have done on rare occasions. I've got just a few things to do tomorrow morning, then I plan to have a lazy afternoon.

EEELA · 06/04/2019 21:25

"some days all you can achieve is clean knickers and a remotely tidy flat" - @MusicalCranberries I love you!

I almost always work weekends, but I take AT LEAST one day a week to properly slob and waste the day online. It's beautiful. DP and BIL(to-be) come home from uni/work and hate me for being in my PJs at 6pm on a Tuesday but I know it's just jealousy. It's lush.

This sounds like some fantastical dream. It is what is missing from my life.

I work shifts, have 3 small children and a dog and I am never allowed to be alone, let alone sitting down or thinking in peace.

Hopefully my day will come.

Clutterfreeintraining · 06/04/2019 21:29

I do it quite often but constantly beat myself up about it because I have a long list of jobs I should be doing in the house Blush

Sundays are occasionally a little better if I get up before 8.30 and make a start on the household tasks.

DailyMailSucksWails · 06/04/2019 21:30

Sometimes. I kind of wish this weekend were one of them, tbh.

EggysMom · 06/04/2019 21:31

To me, laptop time isn't wasted time.

  • I check in with online friends
  • I bring myself up to date with national and local news
  • I compare and switch utilities to save money
  • i do my online banking
  • I research activities for our next holiday, and research the holiday after that
  • i look up legislation relating to support / education for our disabled son
  • At the moment I'm comparing cars for a purchase in the summer
  • Last week I finally looked up Marie Kondo to see what the fuss was about, and tidied our underwear drawers

None of that is wasted time Smile

Iamblossom · 06/04/2019 21:38

@EggysMom agree. Time I spend online is invariably massively productive.

[ignores time spent watching cute Facebook videos{

Redorangeyellowgreen · 06/04/2019 21:41

Before DC, yes I used to do this. It was amazing! Doesn't happen now though Sad DC worth the trade off. Just Grin

Orangecake123 · 06/04/2019 21:43

I went gym.
Studied 3 hours.
Napped for 4 hours. (recovering from small oral surgery)
Made soup.
Spent the rest of the day in bed, listening to an audiobook on my laptop.

It's magic OP. You don't have to be busy all the time.

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 06/04/2019 21:43

I think we all need complete rest sometimes. It's not good for anybody to be always on the go.

tinydancer88 · 06/04/2019 21:44

I love a lazy day. Laptop, books, Netflix, staying in my pajamas, ordering takeaway. It actually really refreshes me.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 06/04/2019 21:50

Today has been exactly that, the joys of teenage kids and working my shifts in the week.

Sometimes I love it, today I had the vague sense of discontent, that feeling I am wasting a day.

It's lovely to be able to do it, a real treat when your children get older and don't need you constantly.
