Ecoegg Laundry Egg

Winner if the most boring post of the year goes to... me! Sorry

I just wondered if anyone has used an Ecoegg Laundry Egg (www.ethicalsuperstore.com/products/ecoegg/ecoegg-laundry-egg---210-washes/)?

I’ve been usung Smol washing capsules, which I liked the idea of, but every month, you’re left with a hard plastic box, and also, since we’ve been using them, my eczema, which was always pretty mild, is the worst its ever been.

Before I buy my Ecoegg I’d love to know how other people have found it.

I use bio powder for really mucky stuff, though.

Oh I started a thread on this a few weeks back. I've got one and I'm quite impressed! The clothes smell of nothing when they come out, marks and stains are gone. I had a drop of zoflora to the wash too to add smell. Everything comes out smelling amazing now

I did try them and really wanted it to work but, like many others on the thread, found it left our clothes smelling musty and not very clean so I've gone back to normal washing powder. I don't use as much powder as they recommend for each wash but our clothes are fine.

I do have to be careful which powder I use as DH and DS1 have sensitive skin.

Have just switched to one and was pretty dubious but so far I'm quite impressed (and over the years I've tried all kinds of trendy greenish things, including Ecover, Method, saponin and soapnuts). Our fabrics don't usually get very soiled, although we do have two cats who go clomping about on everything and one household member works in healthcare so things have to be washed at 60 degrees between shifts for infection control purposes.

Before I started using the egg we did run a couple of VERY hot cycles with no laundry and nothing added through the machine first to clean out any gunky residue lurking in the pipes, and wherever possible we dry outside, but even the little things that we dry indoors don't have any residual smell that we can detect. (And I do a lot of aromatherapy related stuff, I'm fairly sensitive to scents.)

Before we switched there was only one brand of capsule that we could use without setting off the allergies of one of the household members. I personally loathe capsules, and if I ever ran a load with no detergent or anything else added it was noticeable how much soap residue appeared in the drum, and, presumably, went gurgling down the pipes.

For now, I've found our new washing technology.
