Do supermarket 'value' eggs have less iron in them than all-singing organic ones?

I don’t know but the chickens that produce them have an utterly horrific exsistance. If you can’t afford free range or organic I wouldn’t buy them tbh.

I torghink it’s more to do with welfare of chickens. People are always saying on MN “this organic foods a con it doesn’t taste any better” but it’s about the environment, any change of taste/nutrition is a bonus.

Don’t feel bad though, we all have to choose our causes.
You can sometimes get mixed size (ie small) free range eggs cheaper.

I think that nutritionally they are pretty similar, the really expensive ones (Clarence court??) seem to have a richer taste but that might be a psychological thing!
Organic are the most ethical, even free range can have a pretty miserable existence.

Mixed size free range (like the boxes of 15 at Sainsburys) are the best deal

You don't need to buy the poshest organic ones, most supermarkets sell ordinary free-range pretty cheaply these days, they are 80p for 6 in Morrisons at the moment.

We've been on a very tight budget for many years, and free-range eggs is genuinely the one thing I'd never compromise on.
