How to increase milk in one breast

Stillmonday · 06/04/2019 00:09

One breast doesn't fill up nearly as much as the other and I think it's because I tend to feed baby on the other breast.
If I start using a pump do you think it will encourage more milk flow ?

Maybe, but is there any reason you don't alternate?

More use = more milk
Pump or baby:)

Pump or baby, but it's totally normal for one breast to be a bit crap. My left was definitely an under achiever.

I try and alternate now but in the early days I used one more than the other as it was easier with the seat I was in.
I might start pumping the other to see if they even out a bit more

Mine was like this! I had an inverted nipple which didn't help either. Pumping sorted it out though, once feeding was really established I made sure I was using both sides equally, and just accepted it would take twice as long for DD to feed on the crap side!!

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/04/2019 09:37

I fed for the last three or four months on just one side as I was bored of it after two years and wanted to use the computer.

The more you feed the more milk it makes.

HumpHumpWhale · 06/04/2019 09:42

Would it not be easier just to start every feed on that boob for a while?

HumpHumpWhale · 06/04/2019 09:44

Alternatively, pumping for 5 minutes after feeding on that breast should stimulate production - it's more effective if you're pumping after it's been emptied by baby. But I actually always found one boob was a better producer than the other.

I had this too and read somewhere to always start a feed on the lower supplied breast
