How to get rid of annoying tufts of hair around the hair line

I seem to have a lot of almost fringe length hairs around my face but as my hair is curly and frizzy, it literally stands up all the way around my face. I have kept hoping for years it'll eventually grow out to normal hair length but it remains at the 4 or 5 inch length level. Have considered cutting it all off but would constantly need to do this as soon as it starts growing back.

It is almost EXACTLY like the picture here on the left:

Looks fine in the morning smoothed down but eventually stands itself up during the day so end up looking very messy and hair clips don't always work either.

Any idea? Thanks

Elnett hairspray.

Me too! It’s like a cloud.
No help, but I didn’t want you to think you were alone!

This is why I don't do long hair. For the most part my hair is dead straight apart from stuff like this around the crown and hairline, but even the straight bits are different lengths and full of these wispy strands that are never quite long enough to catch in a hairband or plait, so styling is a dead loss.

A really good haircut works wonders. Sadly, good hairdressers are almost as hard to find as good men.

Do you put your hair in a pony tail every day/ in a bun every day?
I used to wear a pony tail every day and got these and realised it was my hair breaking off (and then growing again)
I now use those springy hair bobbles. Less stress to hair. And I don’t wear it up all the time. Sorted

Thanks for the responses so far everyone.

I'd prefer not to be using any artificial product on those hairs especially as it would be in close contact with my face/scalp and I'm very sensitive to most chemicals :(

@ChopIn10Minutes - you mean a haircut to remove all these tufts of hair? That sounds like a good solution but won't they eventually start growing as stubble and then into the tufts again?

@JuniperBeer I very rarely tie my hair during the day (maybe only once or twice per every few months but do tie it up every night (even then it's not a super tight high pony tail) so might not be the reason for me but hair straighteners etc could be causing my hair to break off but seems odd that only these hairs stop growing at such a short length.

I know you've said you don't want to use artificial products but I found spraying a bit of hairspray on an old/unused toothbrush and using that to brush and tame my baby regrowth hairs really helped. Maybe you can try the method but with a product that suits you.

namechangechanger · 04/04/2019 22:48

I've spent years trying to tame mine, nothing works. I just let them be free now Grin

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 04/04/2019 23:33

Some people like me just have wispy baby hair around their hairline, there's nothing you can do about it unless it's caused by breakage.

Your options are dampen them down or let them live free as they were born to be!

megletthesecond · 04/04/2019 23:37

I don't think you can avoid it when you have curly hair tbh.

Having a proper Fringe.
It’s the only thing that’s solved it for me!
