Does anyone else have a small north east facing garden where the sun disappears at tea time? With no sun through winter? Sad

How did you cope with it with children? Does it bother you?

Its funny, our little garden isn't south facing but we seem to get the sun all day, when it shines that is!

Oh god 4pmnin summer. Do you get any sun at all in the winter?
We have a North facing back garden but have sun all day long right upto 5.30pm currently. Well into the evening in the summer. In fact, after having a south facing garden before where the sun disappeared early evening, I prefer this. I can have a glass if wine in the evening sun here and breakfast in the morning Sun too.
Is your whole garden shaded?
You could try painting garden walls white and make use of garden mirrors, fairy lights , garden solar lights and brighter pale green leaves. Ferns grow well in the shade and have a bright green to them, much more pleasant than dark green foliage. Add a few tubs if colour mid summer too.
Do you have a front garden or side garden? Are there any adaptations you can make there to make it slightly more private and useable?

I think NE facing must be the worst deal imo. We had a house when we were in Army housing that had a side garden that was NE facing - it was the only flat bit of garden. The rest was very steep. So it was the only place for the kids climbing frame etc. It was always damp and mulch and thick moss amongst the grass.

I thinks ith some imagination and perhaps a few visits to pinrear for some inspiration, you could improve the feel of the space.

Our garden is north east facing and there is an area with sun all day?
It starts closest to the house and ends up late afternoons as just a strip at the bottom of the garden.
We have build decking down one side of the garden so we can just move chairs up the decking as the sun moves.

Our old garden used to lose the sun around 4pm and we moved house because of it, I worked during the day so missed it then I'd get home thinking what a lovely day it was but as soon as I stepped inside it was so gloomy, the weather really affects my mood and I hated not being able to have any sun or warmth

Oddly I hate sitting in the sun but I couldn't stand the constant shade and looking out of the back window was depressing when I knew it was blue skies out the front.
