Taking dinosaurs to the next level?

DS is nearly 5 and loves dinosaurs. He would like dinosaur things for his birthday (his actual words were he wanted "a dinosaur museum") but already has a large collection of dinosaur figurines as well as cuddly toy dinosaurs. He also had a remote control dinosaur..

Are there any other gifts your dino-mad DC enjoy? I have just spotted a dinosaur digging kit from National Geographic which I will get but looking for other ideas...

Could you get him a load of things to make a dinosaur museum? So go to a real one first for research, see what they have eg models, bones, signs, cases & get what you can to help him make one? Even a white coat or something, fake bones, dinosaur books, brushes & tools to dig with (bury “fossils” in the garden?) The kids in my class are obsessed with dinosaurs pretty often & they like creating Jurassic Parks or going on archaeological digs (they dig stuff up outside and decide what dinosaur/part of dinosaur they are - eg a triangular sharp stone is a certain kind of tooth) - this is all from them. He could display his findings to make a mini museum?

Wow amazing. Some really brilliant ideas. I am considering doing the dolls house filled with little dinosaurs and fossils, teeth etc, together with a white coat and some books. Bit of a project but he would love it!

Does he have the Schleich dinosaurs? They're figures are beautiful and they have some fantastic play sets. Not cheap but amazing quality and detail.

Love the idea of getting a big cardboard box and making your own museum. Maybe get the craft box out and paint it up like a museum? You could even make little signs with info about each dinosaur on?

I've ordered a cardboard dolls house and mini fossils and dinosaurs. Also ordered some dolls house dollies as I suppose a museum needs visitors. I thought plain craft match boxes for mini plinths maybe, and dinosaur stickers for wall decorations, with a big museum sign on top with DS's name..

Perhaps I've gone mad but I have a feeling DS will love it!
