We are off go London on the train with our two DDs. My only definite thought is doing the tower and maybe the natural history museum, plus red bus hop on hop off.

Any tips/ restaurant recommendations? Really don't know London at all so any help would be gratefully received Smile

Canal Boat ride to the Zoo

DLR to Greenwich to stand on the Line

No 11 Bus from Victoria to the Tower, the best sightseeing trip in town.

Aha, just seen you are in London on Sunday morning. Get up early, forget a bout breakfast and go to the wonderful flower market in Columbia Road. Lots of cafes to have a proper smoked salmon bagel breakfast and the market is terrific. Then while you are in the area (well almost) go a bit further east to Stratford and walk around the Elizabeth Park, which is what the Olympic area is now called. Usually lots of stuff happening there , if you have got your swimming duds handy you could go swimming in the Olympic pool.

We did the Tower last summer, it is amazing, so much to see and you can be there all day, worth every penny.

Look into what the national portrait gallery is doing - often they do great workshops for a range of ages. Usually free but need to book.
Mine made a film with the Charlie and lola people.

We love taking our son to London so far we’ve done:

The science museum including the top bit with the shows which is awesome

The natural history museum

The hms Belfast

The planetarium

The cutty sark (which has a great street food market nearby)

The London eye

Shrek experience (amusing but surreal)

Karigan195 · 04/04/2019 19:15

Oh and the tower of course

My kids are a bit older but they really enjoyed the boat cruise. It was a great way for them to see a lot without the usual moans of being too tired/hot/feet hurting etc etc.

We went out to Chinatown for tea, maybe picked the wrong restaurant but to be honest it was a bit rubbish and full of drunks.

Not sure if anyone else has said this but if you are getting the train have a look at the rail page for days out in London, you get lots of things discounted with your train tickets

Not sure if the link will work or not but if you're travelling by train you can get 2 for 1 at loads of the places mentioned. You need to print off the vouchers beforehand and show your train ticket.

DD and I used it for the Tower of London, Hampton Court and a river cruise. You can also use it in some restaurants.

We are training it so thanks, do you just need to show tickets?

You are meant to show your tickets but I wasn’t ever asked for them at any event

Boysnme · 04/04/2019 22:06

You do need to print off the vouchers before you go though rather than have them on your phone. We printed loads of different ones just in case we wanted to use them
