Can I ask for a handhold- nosebleed that isn’t stopping

I know it’s not a big deal really, I’ve always been a bit prone to nosebleeds. And they all stop eventually- usually after a couple of minutes. But I’m not great with the sight of blood.

This one has been going on for over an hour and huge clots have been coming out of my nose and mouth. It feels and tastes horrible!

I know I’m being pathetic but am alone with little DS and feeling a bit sorry for myself. Please tell me it will stop soon!

Glad you went!
Thanks for update.

TMI here but if you swallowed a lot of blood don’t be alarmed at a black poo in the next day or so scared me to death

I ended up in hospital with a nosebleed - never had one before, had a small one in the morning and then an epic one at night that just wouldn't stop!

As it kept bleeding again if I moved, they did take me down to surgery in the end and fix it a few days later. It's been fine since.

I hope yours is sorted soon, and your DS is OK too.

I’m still here in hospital! The doctor tried to remove the bolster thing this morning and bleeding resumed immediately. So they want to wait another 24 hours.

Chic how did you find the surgery? Was it easy to recover from? Thanks.

Oh things moved on. My dad had a never stopping nose bleed. They had to knock him out to cauterise it and then had to have one or two further goes without GA afterwards to get all of it. They had balloons up his nose etc.
As I recall it wasn't too bad. It was sore for a while and it annoyed him not to be able to blow his nose but it did the trick.
Hope they get you sorted. Flowers

I was pretty weak afterwards, but I'm not sure if that was due to the surgery/recovery or the fact that they starved me all day repeatedly in the hope that the Consultant would put me on the list for surgery! After a few days without food and with heavy bleeding I was shattered, I ended up on a drip because I was so dehydrated (nothing to do with the nosebleeds, just the bloody endless 'might be today, if not have a sandwich between 11.00pm and midnight'!)

They did let me out the day after though, and I had to see the GP. Had nosedrops, antibiotics and blood pressure meds. Got DH to do the school run for about a week I think, although I did go along with him towards the end of the week. My nose was fine after surgery though.

Hope they sort something out for you very soon Flowers I found it really sapped my confidence as it's so uncontrollable!

Gosh you did have a tough time of it Chic. Thanks for letting me know what to expect though.

The surgery did work though - that was a few years ago and it's still fine touch wood so far.

If they let you eat, you'll be fine Grin I went to hospital on Sat night, was sent home Sunday morning but was back in Sun night and didn't get surgery until Thursday. Mon/Tues/Wed on the midnight sandwich diet!

How is it going today, OP?
