Anybody know about jewellery hallmarks?

I need the help of the hive-mind!

I'm normally quite good at researching things but my partner has bought me a ring that has me stumped. Anybody out there know anything about hallmarks and can shed any light on what this mark is?

The ring is vintage (we think), white gold (750), diamonds and sapphires. I tried to take pictures of the mark but it was coming up blurry so I've put my best drawing skills to the task. That's it as best as I can see it - I might've gone a bit wrong, not sure.

Any help or knowledge greatly appreciated :)

That is a bobbydazzler. Your partner is a keeper.

I hope you find out who made it.

Thanks all, I'll definitely keep you updated.

Think you are onto something there Sosig - I've looked up French Art Deco rings and they are the most similar items that I've seen to mine, in terms of how it's been made and the overall look.

from the 1920s egyptian items were very popular due to the opening of tuts crypt, it could possibly be egyptian or indian gold as there were a lot of brits in india and brought home souvenirs

The exact same mark isn't here but similar ones are so this might be a tangent to follow

French jewellery maker's marks

I was also about to say French

YourVagesty · 04/04/2019 15:33

This French lead sounds compelling, I'll have to have a mooch tonight when I get back from work. There are some very similar marks on there ShitAtScarbble, I agree, it's very promising!

Hello, I sell antique and vintage jewellery for a living, I'm not an expert but I do have a vast knowledge about jewellery. The ring looks French 1920's to 1930's, the mark is likely to be a maker's mark as they used symbols alot for makers Mark's . Are you sure that the dots you see are not little letters as the symbols usually have a letter and symbols for the French makers and also on the outside of the band is there any markings like a animal head of some kind??

YourVagesty · 04/04/2019 20:30

Asher- thanks for responding, it's great to hear from an antique jewellery seller! I have been squinting at those dots actually, wondering if they are letters. If they are, they are minute, i'll have to get a magnifying glass on it.

I always take a photo of tiny things and enlarge it! But maybe that's just my age! Grin

I'll give it a go solo
