Liquids on flight question...

StandardLampski · 03/04/2019 19:43

Are babies entitled to their own plastic sealed bag for hand luggage?

Am travelling with baby on lap. (So they don't get a cabin bag allowed)

But do I only get one plastic bag for liquids between us, or can they have their own?

I'm not concerned about milk/food etc.
Its just that their creams, sun cream, toothpaste, clothes wash, etc doesn't leave much space for mine (And a scape of makeup so I can make an attempt to look alive after the stress of it all!)

If anyone knows it would be very helpful, am not finding the answer on Google or the airports security info!

Can you call your airline?

bigbluebus · 03/04/2019 19:58

Can't help from personal experience but the following website indicates that it depends which airline you are flying with (scroll down to see the list) It also suggests that you pre-order stuff for your baby to collect from Boots airside.

I always took one for DD when she was under 2 with no problems.

Are you travelling with hand luggage only?

I mean, I’ve done that before, but only when each passenger had their own cabin bag so could pack light for each dc in their own bag, iyswim.

When my dc were small enough to sit on laps, and couldn’t have their own cabin bag (although I remember babies being allowed a separate bag of their own, tbh), I took a suitcase in the hold and all that stuff went in there.

I've just read that actually but I don't have any need to pre order really - (and couldn't afford it!) its just the end of a tube if this, of that, a mini bottle of this etc.

It would just be bit less jam packed (picturing the horror of it burstinf) if we were allowed two bags. I don't think airline will be fussed but more just going through security!

Yep just cabin bag (and allowed a change bag too) so will just be shoved in there but didn't want to be held back on a technicality...

Thanks SuperDuperJezebel

Can you use baby’s stuff too? Sunscreen? Bath stuff? Moisturiser?

KTyoupigeon · 03/04/2019 20:19

Just make sure that when you are taking the end of a tube that the original tube isn’t bigger than the allowed amount (100ml) because they can still turn it down and throw it away

@Demz00

I think you would be better off reposting this as your own thread. Good luck.

When we travelled through Gatwick, they have a family channel. I took pouches, formula, water, lotions & potions and they took everything for further screening and there was no comment on the amount of stuff. I would therefore take a bag each if you are using an airport with family lanes?

GVmama · 03/04/2019 20:42

Could you click and collect Baby's stuff to pick up from Boots after security?

Mummyshark2018 · 03/04/2019 20:46

I have flown with infant dc on Ryanair, easyJet, Flybe and jet2 and yes you can take one clear sealable bag per person but you can also take pre made milk regardless of Liquids in bags. You will have to taste it though! I would pre order toiletries through boots online and pick up through security, or just buy it when you get to the airport. Security staff don't know whether you have paid for a seat for your infant or not.

StandardLampski · 03/04/2019 20:57

All tubes under 100ml already checked.
I really don't need more stuff so not pre ordering.
We'll share what we can. But I don't need nappy rash cream or factor 50 and he dosbt need mascara or deorderant!

It's Manchester...which can be great with kids or not.. bit hit and miss depending who's on!

I've been fast tracked in the past and no issues, I've also had my bags taken apart over a mystery item (a plastic Peppa pig , in case you wanted to know) and been watched trying to collapse pram with toddler legging it away...

I've never known a limit to be enforced (obviously the ml of each thing, but not the amount of things). We've taken 2 kids on hols a couple of times and had tons of stuff with multiple clear bags.

Jfw82 · 03/04/2019 21:10

Treat it as the 'liquids bag' in the change bag- I've done preciously (albeit only for metanium teething gel and a small sun ream)
Security looked at liquids per bag complying whilst gate staff cared about how many bags
Think you should be ok....

ApolloandDaphne · 03/04/2019 21:17

The security staff are not policing number of carry on bags and number of bags of liquids. Put your changing bag in one tray with the baby stuff and your bag in a tray with your own stuff.

eurochick · 03/04/2019 22:12

It's nothing to do with the airline. It's airport security regs. Put each liquids bag in a different tray and I doubt it will be queried.

stucknoue · 03/04/2019 22:25

Just put the changing bag in a different tray to your bag, they won't notice
