Random travelling question: would you go alone if your friend couldn't make it

Imagine you're a mid-20s female who's going on holiday for a week (somewhere in europe that she hasn't been to before) with a slightly older male friend. If he suddenly could not make it (either due to health or documentation issues etc.. literally anything) which you get told about e.g. a few days in advance or even on the day at the airport, would you go without him as you've paid for non-refundable flight and hotel tickets and got annual leave from work etc.? Bearing in mind you'd be travelling alone, have no relatives in that country, etc.

Not based on any real life events but just asking out of curiosity

Yes!
So long as it wasn’t some kind of sandals type couples resort.
I’d pack a load more books :)

Yes, even if it was refundable,

I have been to Greece three times on my own and really loved it. Always got talking to someone, took lots of books, did some long walks, had a great time.

Yes. I prefer going away on my own anyway. No compromising needed.

I would and I did. Go for it!

PianoVigilante · 02/04/2019 22:15

Why wouldn’t you?

I very nearly had this situation which would’ve resulted in me going to India on my own. I was going, no question!
