Hi! I’d love some advice from those wiser than google... so I’ve come to mumsnet!
I hope you can help.
My lovely husband and I are desperate to start a family (just bought my first packet of folic acid tablets!) I’m having my coil removed at the end of April, and we are hopefully naive about our future 🤞🏼
However... we’ve got a safari planned for Sept!
I maticulously planned this safari to ensure it is a Zika and Malaria free safari (which it is, we’re off to South Africa’s entabi private game reserve) for 4 days..
But my husband really has his concerns that if we’re lucky enough to conceive quickly... I might not be able to go on holiday/enjoy it...
We are fairly well travelled, the flight does not worry me- and I feel fairly secure in my knowledge that we’re at no threat from Mozzies, but I really believe you might know best...id love your thoughts.
Thankyou in advance xx

I travelled around the malaria free bits of SA at 5 months pregnant and it was fantastic - although I did have to give up trying to climb up Table Mountain about halfway up.

I usually attract every mozzie within a 5 mile radius and had no problems at all.

Go and have a wonderful time.

I'm currently 32 weeks and would have happily gone on a safari at any point up to now, as long as it was zika-free ☺️

OP, we had a fantastic trip. Took our DCs back a couple of years ago and it was even better. And made that trip up Table Mountain.

Go go go! It will be amazing and might be a while before you can go again if all goes to plan!

Ah sorry but absolutely not. I had hyperemesis in my pregnancies and vomited from eight weeks right the way through labour.
It was absolutely hideous and I was house-bound and frequently hospitalised.

In addition I had other complications which meant I was put on no fly restrictions v early on, as if I'd have wanted to board a plane whilst vomiting 50 plus times per day.

I was the first woman in either of our families to have had any complications at all.

Take out insurance when you book it and if you get pregnant afterwards you should be covered if you have complications like extreme morning sickness.
