Going away this weekend and ideally need to leave early Friday afternoon. Would I be allowed to collect DD early from school?

Its Easter Holidays here so schools are off for 2 weeks back then off for Easter weekend

Or if youre in scotland, we dont do the half term thing here, our kids are hardy enough to work a full term without a break in the middle WinkWink

It's not half term it's the Easter holidays. Why is it so much effort to correctly identify the school break? It gets so confusing when people just refer to every holiday as half term.

What a weird thing to get pissy about..

OP, it's your child and it's a school not a prison. If you don't want to just say "I need to pick her up early" then say she's got a hospital appointment.

Just mention it to the school. An email would do it, or a handwritten note. Most won't stand in your way. They can't anyway.

I do agree that this is the Easter holiday, not half term. It is the holiday that separates the spring and summer terms, just like the Christmas holiday separates the autumn and spring terms. Half term was the week off at the end of February.

Tbh my children’s school would be fine as long as it’s after pm registration.

I get pissy about casual lying as well...

I don’t think they can refuse and since it is the last day of term, they aren’t likely to be doing much that afternoon.

Correct that we can’t refuse but not necessarily correct that they aren’t likely to be doing much. I’ve never known a school to “not do much” on any day bet the last day of the school year.

At the end of this term our children will definitely be working until 3pm on the last day. In fact our children will be having the end of term spelling and times tables competition that afternoon.

If we need to leave early, I collect DD after afternoon registration. She gets the attendance mark and I collect early. School don't miss out on valuable attendance and we get to head off early (it happens once per year at October half term when we are running an event).
