Bedtime.

'But it's still light!'

'Is it a morning night'

'The sun hasn't gone to bed yet'

Argh!!!!!!

DS is 7. This year is the first time we've ever had a problem with it! He was literally in tears and saying the politicians have it right, we should stop changing the clocks all the time!!! Grin

It was an issue for the first time yesterday (DS is almost 4 yo).

It's not dark yet, mama!

He has black out blinds, but there's a gap and light still comes in. In a moment of sheer brilliance, I remembered I had some blu tac and used that to secure his blinds to the window frame and then it was deemed dark enough.

To solve the black out blind gap problem, I used self adhesive Velcro - ran a strip all the way around the window frame, and the other side around the edge of the blind, so the whole thing Velcro’s to the window frame with no gaps. It helps that our blind is exactly the same size as the window, but I guess that it can be cut to fit.

if people can get over being interior design snobs, blackout curtains work miles better than blinds.

In the summer last year, I started bringing my toddler inside at 6pm, closing the curtains and relaxing for half an hour before bath and bed. It worked.
Not sure how you'd get round it with an older child.

Oh and we have a black out blind and curtain in his room.

We use big fluffy eye masks. Worth a try.

Blackout curtains are the way to go, just put them up in my youngest's room, though my oldest isn't bothered. But I remember when she was a toddler and putting her to bed when it was still daylight and she asked me to turn out the light - "I already turned out the light" "I mean the outside light" She meant the sun Grin

I hope my youngest won't be trouble with it though as in the summer here the sun doesn't go down until around midnight and is up just a couple hours later!

Yep, ds2 was being very very difficult about it.
Ds1 was knackered and he is easy to go to sleep.

We have black out curtains. Makes zero difference 😢
