How to get out of a rut?

I am very low at the moment. Job is horrible but there isn't much else out there so going part time in a couple of months. I will have free time so hope to start going swimming and keeping house in better order which should make things easier. I like simple gardening.
The dc were very demanding and hard today. Back to work tomorrow and I feel like there is never anything to look forward to. At work it is very bitchy and underhand. I am senior but not the most assertive and there is a lot of favouritism. Don't really know how to get out of this negative cycle. Dh works away for 10 day blocks so can't take up hobbies really

Taking some time for you can help, planning something nice to do with DC’s (days out) can really help and I’m a big fan of a bit of a spa day

The weather should mean more time in the Garden for you.

Motherhood isn't easy, be kind to yourself.

I do think I need some kind of outlet. Only thing really around here is golf and gardening groups (more retired age) I would love to make new friends even plan weekend trips away.

Take it one day at a time until you switch to PT. It'll make a ton of difference to your energy levels and motivation.

People are complex beings, as are friendships.

You sound like you have been surrounded by people on a different wavelength at work.

I would sort yourself out and not look to others to fix whatever it is you are dissatisfied with in life, you won't find it externally in other people.

Have you tried bring disciplined with taking lunch breaks... maybe if you're part time ensure you take a full hour at least once a week. Gst out of the office atmosphere and go for a walk. Swimming will make you feel good... if you start going regularly you might meet new people. Or take a class at a leisure centre they can be quite friendly sociable places. Good luck x

Two decades in teaching is taking it's toll emotionally also. Deprived school. Part time will help. I know even dh can't help me. I have to sort things myself

He will say oh forget about that or what's for dinner. He isn't outgoing or sociable at all so that doesnt help

I volunteered at school years ago, if it's a similar atmosphere where you are then I understand why you have had enough. I have volunteered and worked in various sectors and the staff room was the most challenging, lots of immature bossy people stuck in parent/child roles and not a lot of adulting going on.
