Shit shopping - worst groceries delivery experience

I have had the shittest home shopping experience with Morrisons.

What happened:

  1. The driver turned up 40 mins early (7.50am).
  1. When I didn't immediately answer the door (as it was 40 mins early and I wasn't even dressed) he dumped the groceries on my drive and buggered off immediately, without even speaking to me. I live on a really busy road that at that time is full of schoolkids and commuters walking to the station, so potentially the whole lot could have been nicked. Not to mention freezer stuff defrosting in the morning sunshine etc.
  1. When I had got dressed, opened the door and found all the bags just sitting there and brought them in and started to unpack everything, I found that in addition to the above, he'd missed out about 3 bags of my groceries, including the high value items. But had helpfully substituted that with several bags of someone else's random shit shopping.
  1. I was working at home and had to take about 45 mins of my work time out to try to resolve this. So cost to me - about £20.
  1. Result - Morrisons couldn't get hold of the driver at all, couldn't find my missing shopping and are going to take up to 10 days to refund the money for the non-existent shopping to my card. 10 days!! In this day and age. Everywhere else seems to promise refunds within 5 days max.
  1. They refused to refund anything for my inconvenience except for the delivery charge - big woo given I now have to do another shop to cover all the items they didn't deliver. They kindly offered me all of £3 (another big woo) off a future shop. Ignoring that there will definitely never be a future shop with Morrisons, as far as I'm concerned. Angry

Anyone else had a shitter shopping experience with Morrisons (or another supermarket)?

So disappointed as they used to have really good customer service. Have massively gone downhill recently though - no idea why.

Recommendations for reliable home groceries delivery companies much appreciated too. :)

honestly, giving up on online shopping has saved us a fortune - lidl, iceland and m&s for fancy bits all the way here

Morrison’s is hanging by a thread I’d say. I used to shop there and the food always looked so good and well presented. We moved away, so stopped shopping with them. I went back to do a shop even though it’s way out of the way, it was awful. I went on a Saturday morning and the staff were still putting stick out with shelves/fridges empty. So disorganised.

I stopped online shopping ages ago, and nip round with trolley in Lidl’s. So much quicker, I’m in and out within 20 minutes if that.

My Morrison's service has always been brilliant, right down to drivers tramping from two streets away through deep snow to deliver my order, they can never do enough for you. The worst service both online & in store I have had is Sainsbury's on the odd occasions I used them I had so many substitutions what I received in no way represented my order, sending washing up liquid instead of laundry liquid being one of them.

Thanks, interesting to hear others have had bad Morrisons experiences recently and agree they have gone down hill. I wonder why?

Also, their prices have gone up massively. When I switched from Tesco, Morrisons were definitely cheaper, but looking now, they seem to be quite a bit more expensive for nearly all basics eg iceberg lettuce - 60p at Tesco, 70p at Morrisons, butter £1.50 at Tesco, £1.60 at Morrisons etc. Basically now always 10-20p more expensive at Morrisons for standard items.

Thanks for the warning about Asda taking money twice so I shan't be shopping there either! (Also was unimpressed with their quality.)

Ocado is no use for me if it will be delivering M&S stuff as that's too limited. But Tesco and Sainsbury's feedback sounds largely positive so shall be switching there. :)

I can't rely only on shopping in store as I don't drive so can't carry it all home easily. That said, am very excited to have heard yesterday that a Lidl will be opening up just near the station (a 10 min walk away) soon - that should save a fair bit for nice items I can carry.

And certainly, when I do shop in Lidl it's like being in a time warp in terms of prices! eg chocolate chips 49p in Lidl compared to 80p in Tesco and 85p in Morrisons!

Such a shame Lidl don't do delivery...

Ocado deliver branded items - it's just the own brand stuff that's Waitrose, so I assume that will be the same when they swap to M&S.

They price match Tesco on the banded stuff - Heinz etc

Just to explain about the double payment - most supermarkets take a ghost payment of £2 on the day you order, then they release the ghost payment and put through the actual payment on the day. Asda take the whole amount as the ghost payment and whilst most of the time they release it before putting it through again sometimes they don't.
If the ghost payment is £2 then it doesn't matter if it doesn't get released as it should. But if it's £100 and your shopping is £100 then unless you have plenty in your account you're screwed. Asda then claim there is nothing they can do to speed up the release of the ghost payment that can take up to 10 working days...
