Teenage laziness - or something more?

My dd is 16 and her laziness /tiredness is driving me nuts! She's chosen to do a Musical theatre btec at college after gcse's and I'm concerned she wont last a week, never mind a year!

To give an example, last night she went to bed at 11pm, her twin brother was up at 8, I woke her at 10 (she had asked me to wake her if she, wasn't up by then) she lazed about all morning, couldnt be bothered going for a shower, eventually got dressed at 12.30, we left for me to take her to theatre academy at 1.15 to start at 2.

Collected her at 5, then while I was making dinner she was lying on the sofa with a blanket over her as if she was going to sleep. It was certainly not cold here today (she's always complaining she's cold).

She then started saying she's too tired to practice the dance she needs to know for her class on Tuesday and her knees "keep clicking"

Is this normal teenage laziness? It's not a one off she seems to be like a sloth most of the time... She's never too tired to watch endless YouTube and Instagram films though!

I can't gauge her against her twin as he's autistic and doesn't seem to have an off switch, she's like the polar opposite and has a faulty on switch!

Of course if I mention going for an early night that's a ridiculous suggestion!

Any ideas?

Well if it's any consolation when 2 of mine were teens they usually slept until lunchtime Saturdays and often just hung around all day doing nothing much. Then went to college and both worked very hard and graduated with first class hons. They both worked part time and had various hobbies and volunteered.
So may be a teen thing.
But she may need her bloods checked. Low iron? Or maybe just get her a multivitamin.

I was similar at 17, my Mum took me to the GP when for the third week in a row I said I was too tired to go to the pub! I was diagnosed with post-viral fatigue/? Glandular fever. To be honest, the lie in/lazing about sounds fairly teenager-ish. Always feeling tired and cold warrants a GP appointment.

Vitamin D deficiency.

Just had a bout of something very similar with dd and after a blood test it was vitamin d deficiency.

Private dr friend advised her that the NHS levels were set quite low and teenagers need more than older people.
Dd had to prise the number out of the gps receptionist on the results line as she said dds test results were normal at 45.
Teens should have something like 120

Does your dds muscles ache or are sore

Ask doctor to check vitamin D levels and also for underachieve thyroid

It is the end of a long term. And agree with checking Vit D levels, and maybe anaemia too.
