Tax credits as student (Scotland)

Hi all.

(I'm in Scotland if that makes a difference)

I'm going back to university in September to do my PGDE. Currently I work part time and claim child tax credits for my 14 month old. I am in the process of applying to SAAS and it says that CTC isn't taken into account when calculating your student loan/bursary amount.

Just wondering what to do on the HMRC side of things? Should I just call up and make them aware that I will be receiving a student loan or does that not affect tax credits payments? Very unsure how it all works Confused Advice is appreciated!
