Anybody know how the CPS & police work together?

I am bringing a case. It's been with the CPS now since last July and it's nearly 2 years since I first gave my interview. There is oodles of irrefutable evidence which has been documented. I understand the police have met the CPS recently to discuss it but nothing seems to happen. I'm in limbo. Does anyone know what might be going on behind closed doors? & How much longer I might have to wait? The only thing I've been told is my case is 'compelling'.

The police don't meet the CPS. They may talk to a CPS prosecutor on the phone. But they never meet in person.

The CPS decide when or if you're case goes to court.

I'm sorry it's taking so long. Police and CPS don't really work together as such, the police will be gutted if the CPS decide there's no case after all their work and of course on behalf of you.

Police can meet with CPS if it’s a complex case. Gererally it will be done over the phone though.

You need to speak to the officer in charge of the case and ask what is happening. They may have a long list of actions from CPS to complete before CPS feel they can make a charging decision.
Do you have the officer’s details to contact them?

The police present the evidence to the CPS, who review it all to make a decision as to whether there is a case to answer & the balance of probability is in favour of the victim & the police. They make the decision for cases to be brought to court.
