I'm teaching a new undergrad course on Monday and I'm struggling as it's out of my comfort zone. It's at a French Uni.

The subject is: All forms of protest are legitimate. Discuss with reference to current or past protest movements.

We have previously looked at #MeToo and the Suffragettes. I'm thinking of using the Yellow Jackets Protests too.

Please can you help me with other protest movements - violent or otherwise- that they'd know of. Ideally they should find them relevant too.

The May 68 student riots would be worth referencing, esp if you are in France

Michaelbaubles · 28/03/2019 21:38

Black Lives Matter would be good. And any environmental protests like the schoolchildren walkouts.

All forms of protest presumably encompasses IRA bombs, middle-east suicide bombings and other acts which are often also considered terrorism,

Poll tax

Miners strikes

Starvation - relatively peaceful protest by Ghandi but also used by Ian Brady

Wallywobbles · 28/03/2019 21:48

FEMEN suggested by DH but I hadn't heard of them do you know of them. They'd tie in nicely.

So what would make you go out and protest? Is there anything that you feel so strongly about that you would join or support a violent protest?

What about the anti 'Brexit' march last week?

Wallywobbles · 28/03/2019 23:22

Yup. Brexit will definitely have to get a mention.

What about the flag protest in N Ireland a few years ago?
