Do you take fire alarms when you move house?

Completing on our house tomorrow.

When we moved in (c. 6 years ago) there were no fire alarms but it seems a strange thing to take as there's fixings on the ceilings... but DH can't remember if we fitted them or they were already there Confused

No I wouldn’t take them.

Palominoo · 28/03/2019 21:29

No

toptomatoes · 28/03/2019 21:30

No

strathmore · 28/03/2019 21:30

No of course you don't

You don't take the light bulbs, toilets or the bath either.

Quertymcquerty · 28/03/2019 21:31

Absolutely not, very petty.

TheNoodlesIncident · 28/03/2019 21:33

No, they are fixtures and fittings. Like burglar alarms.

As you found though, there's no limits to the things cheeky people take...

cliffdiver · 28/03/2019 21:33

Okay, that's what we thought - thank you... I guess our vendor was that petty.

Thank you for clarifying @strathmore we were fretting about how we were going to get the bath out.

Blimey. I can't believe you evem considered this.

cliffdiver · 28/03/2019 21:39

Because @Bluntness100 we will buy brand new fire and cm alarms for the new house as would not rely on the reliability of the ones left. I assume most would do the same so therefore didn't see whether we should leave our old ones in situ.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 28/03/2019 21:41

No, you just test them Confused

TerribleTwosPhase · 28/03/2019 21:43

No I wouldn't take them. I would always test the ones in the new house and replace if necessary, but it wouldn't even cross my mind to take mines

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 28/03/2019 21:44

that's what we thought - thank you... I guess our vendor wasthatpetty

But you also say that you can't remember if you fitted them or they came with the property so how can you say your vendor was that petty if theres at least a 50% they left them. Tbh i would actually say theres a higher chance that they were in situ when you moved in.

Hpwever there is a slight chance you did fit them not because the previohs owner took them just never had them in the first place astonishing i know but not all houses have smoke alarms hense all the averts about the importance pf them

cliffdiver · 28/03/2019 21:47

@NaughtToThreeSadOnions I meant the fixings, not the alarms.

There were no alarms when we moved it but I cannot remember if the fixings were there or if DH and I fitted them with the alarms.

Just test the ones in the new house

nometal · 28/03/2019 21:57

You don't take the light bulbs,

Apparently, some people do.
