Hi lovely people.
Back story I had a car accident and now need a hip replacement but I am too fat. I have tried myself but can't do it. Have previously lost weight on lighter life. Now I am consumed with pain every movement hurts.
I saw the nhs consultant yesterday what an arrogant twit. Told me to avoid all foods that start with P.... Then I would lose 2kgs a week. So chocolate is OK then.
Anyway he did say its a two year waiting list so I am looking at going private.
I am overwhelmed with clinics here and in Europe. Here it's approx £10k turkey £3 Latvia £5. For example.
Please I need any information if you or a family or friend has had a sleeve or by pass done. Here or overseas.
Thank you

I just couldn't I'm sorry. There are so many horror stories.

I did lose weight for surgery, 3 stone in 3 months with the Blood Sugar Diet and I thought it was a great way to lose weight but unlike many people I wasn't able to maintain it. My surgery has partly failed because I did not properly sustain an ongoing plan and the weight has caused complications.

As you're aware, there's only really one good chance for surgery so you need to be committed.

Save your 3 grand, theres no easy option. Use it to pay for some counselling and consider the Blood Sugar Diet, Cambridge Plan or similar to get rapid weight loss but build in some better mental health to keep you through your recovery after surgery so you continue to lose weight Flowers

Hi thanks for responding. What surgery did you have?
I'm sitting here with a box of lighter life packs. Just can't stick to it. So thought surgery as drastic as it is would force me to not eat.

I’ve worked with NHS bariatric surgery patients in the UK. The “two year wait” is part of the pathway. You have many consultations with doctors, psychiatrists and dietitians during this time. They assess you for readiness and prepare you for the lifestyle change. The surgery isn’t a magic fix. It takes lots of hard work before and after the surgery if it’s going to work. The NHS have a great framework for supporting patients before and after their surgery.

I would not recommend going for a “quick fix” abroad. It’s entirely possible (I would say probable) to fail to lose any weight at all after the surgery, without the adequate aftercare and support from dieticians. I’ve seen amazing transformations through the NHS route. Two years is no time at all in the grand scheme of your life. Good luck!

Could you wait on the NHS pathway as recommended above, it is a journey, and spend some of the money you would spend on a private option actually putting some time and investment into your current health? Investment into you as a fabulous woman.

It must be agony every day, but where you put your time, and your money is what you concentrate on and where you will see results. If you're struggling at home perhaps spend some time on some comprehensive meal plans that involve good food that takes little energy to prepare. Ocado has just brought me some lovely soups and salads. I'm not waiting till I'm smaller to own nice clothes and hair I'm doing it now. I feel good about myself and care about myself more. I'm losing weight naturally.

You need a long term plan, there aren't any easy answers.

I had a pelvic floor repair.

Check out team rh on Facebook - it’s a really friendly supportive group for weight loss eating maximum calories - I’m losing weight eating 2900 calories.

Loads of people in there who were feeling totally hopeless. 💐

I really wouldn’t. Once you’re back in the UK they don’t want to know if anything goes wrong.

I’m an ITU nurse and I’ve lost count of how many patients I’ve looked after following surgery abroad. And I’m Critical Care so we are talking serious complications.

There’s no way I’d let family or friends go abroad for surgery
